It's not always possible to use regular clamps to secure a project. These and the Bench Dogs together worked perfectly so I didn't have to try to hold my project with one hand to work on it. Nicely made and did the job as indicated.

A friend of mine showed me how to use these… Just a tap of a hammer or mallet on top secures it and A tap or tap On the side with the mallet releases it. So much easier to use than a screw clamp. Where has this tool been all my life? I am so glad to be owning three of these at such a reasonable price. They work great!

These are simple Dog Hole Clamps, but sometimes that's what you want. The important part is that they are effective.I a hobbyist carpenter and I tinker around in my garage mostly, and I use these with my B&D workbench to quickly hold any piece I'm working on. They make the matter simple and easy. What more could I ask for...

I was first introduced to this style of hold down clamps when I was in high school wood shop. I have all kinds of different clamps and did not have this kind, so I ordered them to see if they would work as I remembered. They are very heavy and are for 3/4" dog holes. They are cast metal and as many have noted there is a casting seam down the middle which does affect the hold down surface and will leave a mark on your project. As others have suggested I used a piece of leather to help with that, but I think the manufacture should make that surface flat before shipping. The seam also runs down the leg of the clamp and may create damage to your dog holes, especially if your bench top is two and a half inches thick of melamine, such as mine. I have been meaning to make a new bench but have not gotten around to it yet. I can still use these clamps but will need to clean up the seams. Also, I have a shelf underneath that I need to clear it out because these will protrude down too far. That is a problem with my set up and I did not deduct for that. Just wanted to point it out for those that may have either a drawer or shelf under their work bench.The price is pretty good since you get 3 of them, but I wish they cleaned up the casting seam, at least on the surface that contacts your wood. As they do work as hold down clamps, I will clean them up to use when I make a new bench, but I should not have to in my opinion.

Purchased these for my husband who does a lot of working with wood. He absolutely loves this product.
