Botan Calrose Rice, 15-Pound

We love this rice for making sushi. The packing came intact. It great sticky rice and such a great value, at the grocery store I can only get half the amount for same price. Cooks great in a rice cooker.

Decent budget all around rice. Should be fairly low in arsenic since it's grown in California. Calrose rice is about 80% amylopectin starch which is easier to digest than amylose. This should be similar to most short grain varieties. If you want close to 100% you'll need to spend more on glutinous rice. AFAIK it's a few percent higher amylopectin than other varieties of medium grain white rice such as nishiki and kokuho-rose. The bag I received was a new crop bag. Edit: next batch was not new crop as of late April 2024.

This rice reminds me with my home country rice ( Egyptian rice) exact the same Authentic taste. I love it. It takes the same cooking time .

Yum! Some of the best rice out there. One of my favorites. It’s the sticky kind of rice. The kind they serve at the restaurants for hibachi.
