BEST OF BOWIE

I enjoyed it & if you are a David Bowie fan..THIS IS IT!!!You will have a great time watching this entire set of 2 DVD's over & over again. I enjoy musician singers with class & David Bowie is a class act, with class & in a class all by himself.

I realized too late that this was PAL. Guess the fault is mine. Too late to return it. Placing it into the trash

This two disc collection of David Bowie’s videos from1972 to 2000 is a fascinating look at his ever evolving persona as an artist, and a bunch a great songs, with hardly a dud in the bunch. On the other hand, the videos were more of a mixed bag than I expected. There are some classic early experiments (“Ashes to Ashes”) and a number of interesting videos from the mid-90s on, but I was surprised, given Bowie’s penchant for trying new things, how many of these videos were pretty standard or familiar. A lot of disc one is just concert or playback videos, often from TV appearances, sometimes painfully obviously simply lip-syncing to the record. But more surprising is how many of the ‘middle’ period of these discs 1980 to 1990 were just not very imaginative. Finally Bowie seemed to catch on to the importance of working with more visionary directors like Mark Romanek, and the last half of the second disc is almost always interesting on a film-making as well as a musical and historic record level. Very glad to have this, but I’d probably keep my finger on the skip button on future viewings.

Seller shipped a PAL [Europe zone] disc. Good thing I have a multi-region player. Most people would have to return this item as it would be unplayable on US dvd equipment.

Scrivere di Bowie è veramente difficile. Cosa non è stato già detto, descritto, approfondito sulla musica, la personalità, l'evoluzione di questo grande personaggio del nostro tempo. Questa bellissima raccolta di video, esibizioni alla BBC ed altro ancora è imperdibile, sia per i fans che per coloro che, non conoscendolo bene, siano così curiosi da voler capire chi sia stato David Bowie. Forse la cosa che vale la pena sottolineare è che molti di noi lo hanno letteralmente amato, anche nei momenti bui della sua carriera. Guardando i video presentati in questa raccolta non si può trattenere la nostalgia: Ziggy, il duca bianco, l'eroe, lo sperimentatore, il rock e la dance ed altro, altro ancora. Grazie David.
