Good Quality for price - NOT the best with instructions
I like the way it goes together. Very good quality materials. The instructions could be a little easier to view. The instructions are on the paper but are hard to see (diagrams are too small)

Easy customization and installation
Great kit for installing a pocket door. Room design included a glass partition between the door top and the ceiling in order to allow window light into a closet area. Steel studs can be cut to necessary length with a cutting wheel on an angle grinder. When sandwiched between drywall, the assembled door is stable, even with minimal overhead framing. Door width can be adjusted and includes all installation and customization instructions. Three wheeled trolleys roll freely on the overhead track and are able to support a heavy door. Frame thickness is 4 inches so it fits well into an exiting wall so there is no loss of space in a room if replacing an existing door with a pocket door.Great price and easy install. All needed hardware is included except for a latch if desired.

Some installation tips
Good product, and everything came out well in the end, but here's what I'd do differently if I were doing it over.1. I'd glue in some bracing between the top of the track header and the bottom of the rough opening header. The assembly tends to flex while you're trying to nail jamb and trim into the supplied "studs," and bracing would steady it some.2. The instructions say to first close up the wall, then hang the door. Don't do it that way. Hang the door first, so you can see where the fully open position is, and either align your jamb to it or shim the back of the pocket so the door edge is even with the jamb. If the door is recessed too far, it comes off the nylon guides at the bottom of the split jamb when you open it all the way. I trusted the instructions on this, and wound up having to reopen the wall to shim the back of the pocket.3. The bare wood of the track header is visible if you look up when standing in the doorway. If this concerns you, paint that area before you put it up. It's a lot easier than painting in there after assembly. Don't paint the track itself.4. Actually hanging the door on the rollers is not as easy as they make it sound. An unsharpened carpenter's pencil temporarily stuck into the track will hold the roller in place so you can push the tab into the slot.Like others, I'd have liked sturdier wood in the channels and header, but it's adequate, so I'm glad I bought the commercial version and not the cheaper imported version. The finished door rolls smoothly and looks good.

New install
I used these for a new install, so I cannot speak for longevity yet, but the install was very easy and they glide smoothly. Very happy so far.

First class product
This is the second one of these that I have purchased and installed, by my self. The install very easily and the workmanship and quality have been top notch. Before I found these I used a pocket frame from my local DIY center, it was fine but was more expensive and not nearly the quality or ease of installation.

This is a really great product compared to what I have seen out at the big box stores. Installed it during this long Thanksgiving Weekend and it's smooth action! Closes perfectly against the door jamb. I would definitly buy this product again for my next project! Only recommendation I would make is spend the extra money and buy the heavy duty roller ball bearing hangers instead of using the nylon ones that come with the kit. I just don't want to monkey around with this door for a very long time! Other than that great product, just take your time to square and plumb up your rough opening and it will go in without a hitch like mine did!

Horrible company
Purchased a couple of these door kits and a bunch more pocket door hardware from L.E. Johnson. I ran into an installation issue. No problem - I thought - I'll just call the company and ask for their help. In my experience working with American manufacturers and after-sales support is always A+ so I expected this time would be the same. I was connected to Steve at L.E. Johnson who was immediately rude and combative. I have never experienced anything like this with American sales staff. I wasn't angry that I was having an installation problem - I was merely wanting help. What a way to treat a customer! Read other reviews on Amazon and around the internet (like Google reviews) and you will see this is an ongoing issue that Johnson refuses to actually address.I will never purchase anything by L.E. Johnson again and will advise anyone I know in the trades to stay away also. There are very good alternatives on the market, which, while more expensive, are a better product. Perhaps even more important, the other options don't treat their customers with contempt.
