Queen And Paul Rodgers: Return Of The Champions [2006]

Love it, love it
I have been meaning to watch this DVD since its release. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect being a Queen fan of 30 plus years and being familiar with Paul Rogers' music through my Mum but wow! I love Paul Rogers' blues style voice and interpretation of the Queen songs. With the exception of Another One Bites the Dust he executed all songs brilliantly. While he hasn't got Freddie's voice and seemed to struggle with some of the high notes, he sings with the same power and can command the stage. I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of Queen and Free/Bad Company songs.Other reviewers have commented on how the concert effected them emotionally and I felt the same. I found myself tearing up at times.Having watched the DVD, I wish the Queen and Paul Rodgers collaboration had lasted longer.

I must admit that I am biased when it comes to Paul Rodgers, Brian May and Roger Taylor
I must admit that I'm biased when I need to talk about anything that Paul Rodgers, Brian May or Roger Taylor do in music industry. Paul is simply one of the best rock singers ever and Brian May's guitar sound is simply a creation of a genius. I also love Roger Taylor's drum feel. Here you can enjoy a most superb selection of these three brilliant musicians' songs and of course I don't mean to say that they play only songs they had created as solo artists or members of different bands but really this DVD has anything they had ever created until 2005 when it was released and they managed to put each and every song into a kind of general picture to celebrate Queen's music and their own musical history.Naturally, they played all the great Queen hits like Tie Your Mother Down, Hammer To Fall, Radio Ga Ga, Kind Of Magic, etc, basically you name it, but they also performed Free and Bad Company songs.Unfortunately, they could not have a longer time to work together but I still think that even the brilliant late Mercury would have said congratulations on the songs of this DVD. Enjoy!

Exceding all expectations
For many years we have enjoyed watching and listening to Queen also Brian Mays solo appearances, but it was only recently that we became aware of Paul Rodgers. But what an amazing combination. No one was ever going to match the voice of Freddie but Paul Rodgers added his own style/slant on some classic Queen numbers, and it worked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Unfortunately we never got to see Queen live while Freddie and John Deacon were still around. But we are going to make every effort to see them and Paul Rodgers in their tour this Autumn. If the 2005 DVD is anything to go by it is a live performance not to be missed.

Paul Rodgers is phenomenal!
Love this DVD. Paul Rodgers is still phenomenal as a rock singer. One of the best I would say. Been to see him live and he is just brilliant. Great concert.

A real champion DVD
Fantastic, fanastic, fantastic! I was fortunate to be present at this concert and was even more fortunate to be almost within 'plucking' distance of Bri's guitar strings... even made several guest appearances!!! A truly brilliant concert... probably the best I have ever attended.I have been a Queen fan for many years a Paul Rodgers one (Free & Bad Company) for even longer. Like many people have said (Brian & Roger included) Paul was never going to be a replacement for Dear old Freddie and he never tries to be. Instead he puts his own mark on the Queen material and it works extremely well. A must buy DVD... fantastic!

Champion.
A good concert, well filmed, extremely well played and sung and a good mix of Queen classics with a couple of Free and Bad Company songs thrown in for good measure.

Wow
As a Freddie fan it was a difficult decision to watch this dvd (borrowed from my boss) but it is absolutely fantastic. Paul Rodgers doesn't try to be Freddie but has himself a fabulous voice and this dvd is a wonderful tribute to Freddie. It is very moving and I cried several times - Love of my Life was beautiful and I was amazed that I remembered all the words and sang along with Brian May and the audience. I have bought several copies since I watched this and have my own precious copy now. C

Still Brilliant.
Had the pleasure of seeing this tour in Belfast and Dublin back in May 2005,absolutely stunning show. From Paul's "Reaching Out" intro then tearing into Tie your mother down,I want to break free, fat bottomed girls....just brilliant.Brian does the vocal on 39' and Love of my life.....Roger does Say it's not true, these are the days and radio ga ga...Paul gets to do some Bad Company and Free classics...all in all a fantastic dvd....I have got to say the current Adam Lambert incarnation of Queen is not a patch on this.
