This is the one to get if you have a lot of stuff. It has 7 ports (plus the WAN input) and it keeps up with my 600 megabit fiber connection easily. It does not have 5 gig Wi Fi but the 2.4 Gig is lightning fast and services all of my wireless devices quite nicely. Setup is easy and all of the advanced settings are available.

For the non-indoctrinated, MikroTik routers are software routers that run routerOS. Out-of-the-box, it does come with a default profile that makes it useable by anyone. Simply put your ISP on Ethernet port 1 and your able to use it like any other router. What makes MikroTik special is that these inexpensive routers are programmable. The largest MikroTik server equipment down to the cheapest router runs the same operating system, so to know one means to learn the entire product line. To that effect, there are about 10 certifications that allow you to understand and implement all aspects of packet routing, wireless, security etc... This is not for the faint-of-heart but the result is that you can get the internet traffic in your network to do anything you want. You do need two routers as a minimum to be able to do these classes so I bought a second MikroTik L009UiGS-2HaxD.

There is NTP server/client, Wireguard VPN (I was shocked), an actually good UI with more than 10 features, and ACTUAL FIRMWARE UPDATES. The only thing that disappointed me is the 2.4ghz, but for the amount of features you get for $125 dollars it can be overlooked. I was close to returning the router because I thought I made a mistake, but then I saw I could do DNS over https natively..... If configuring options isn't your thing, it just works once plugged in too. If a products like this exist, I'm never buying consumer Netgear or Asus again.

These are some of the best serious routers for price. Love the simple design and the Router OS.

I started with a hAP ac, but it didn't seem to have the power to filter packets and YouTube. So seeing the promise in Router OS I purchased this one, which should be able to do the job easily. But It seems the RouterOS of the past is not the RouterOS of the present. It can't block YouTube even though WireShark shows the TLS Host in plain English. I've tried all the Youtube Videos, but they don't' work anymore. I've verified the packet text is there, but the router doesn't see it. It just feels like Router OS is specifically looking around youtube, google, and likely any other BigTech firm. Not impressed, it doesn't work beyond default, very much disappointed. Will NOT be buying again.
