Absolutely Worth the Extra Money!
The SKB is not the cheapest rack case by a longshot but this is a really nice, lightweight case. Hardware in the form of the necessary screws and washers are provided. The rack holes are nicely threaded and the alignment is nearly exact. I had no problem with holes not lining up when mounting my hardware. I like that the case is sturdy. It is not floppy when empty. The lids fit perfectly and seal well. The latches are metal and appear to be of good quality. I am very pleased with the rack. I had to install a shelf as the two distribution boxes, and router that are part of my setup were not designed to be mounted in a rack. The distro boxes fit tightly and I secured them with a Velcro strap. I used heavy duty 3M Velcro-like material to secure the router. Overall, I am really pleased. I may swap positions of the mixer and the power conditioner from the pictures but that is me. This is an excellent rack case. I could have gotten one for $100 less but I am glad I spent the money and bought this one.

Perfect for Behringer X32 Rack
This will fit the Behringer X32 rack. Both of the covers clear the front and back without removing the grab handles. If you want to leave everything hooked up all the time, I would get a deeper rack, but if not, this rack is perfect.

This is a 2U short case, good for shorter depth rack mountable gear.
I like that is a shorter case works great with my Furman M-8x2 rackmount power supply and Korg ToneWorks DTR-2 Digital Tuner. Please note the case is shorter in depth than a standard rack mount case. Your rackmount gears depth will need to be around 8.5 inches or shorter to fit in the case while still being able to put the case's back door on for transport. A great stong and light weight rack case.

Sturdy and well-made
I use the SKB 3U shallow rack for a Behringer X32 Rack mixer and (in a separate, identical rack) an uninterruptible power supply and drawer for an Apple Airport Router to complete the mixer package. The separate racks keep the weight manageable (the UPS is heavy) and make them more flexible to pack in the car/van. The stacked racks interlock to stay aligned and prevent sliding which is helpful both while in use and while being transported. The lids are deep enough to store a couple of short XLR cables or the IEC power cable for the X32 or other stuff. Overall, a well designed and well constructed rack case for your rack gear while in use and to effectively protect it from damage while being transported.

It works
In the summer the case lid warped in the sun which is not something I expected. The latches too are really poor at holding on. But it's a sexy looking rack so I really don't mind

It is rugged, relatively lightweight and purdy!
I bought this as a means to carry ham radio gear in sort of a portable, ready to go station for emergency communications. It is not a common rack case used for this purpose. Most my ham radio buddies use a competitor product. I get ALOT of compliments whenever I whip this baby out. It is elegant, sleek and sturdy. It holds my ham radio gear well, and the seal adds an extra protection against moisture (although NOT weather or water proof). I am very happy with it. Oh, and customer service is superb too!

Almost…
I’ve used 2 of these cases over the last 5 years. Both cases have had the latches go bad. It’s so bad that the latches open up randomly when transporting. When that happens, the contents of the case scatter and that defeats the purpose of having a case to protect your gear. I really wish the latches would be higher quality given the price point.
