QEDPerformance Audio Jack To Phono Graphite 1.5M

Cheaper cables might do the trick but will they deliver the magic?
I recently took the plunge to add an arcam blink to my audio set up to start playing music through my phone on my hifi. As usual I read a lot of reviews before moving forward. On purchasing the blink I had a very basic and cheap phono to stereo jack which I used to try it all out. I can honestly say I was impressed. The quality of the streaming was good and if I left it at that I’m sure I would have been happy enough. But in considering the quality of the cheap cable connecting the Dac to my system I was convinced that replacing this with something of better quality would have to make an improvement and started my search for a better cable. Various reviews pointed to a significant difference in sound while others suggested it was all hype and the difference (if any) was negligible. Where I am concerned, I have always been convinced that the better quality of cable the better the signal and at least I should look to purchase something which was equal to the quality of the components of my system. For a little over £20 Ii discovered and purchased the QED performance graphite and after receiving my order connected them to my set up. Although the difference isn’t immediately obvious with further listening I noticed there appeared to be better separation of vocals and instrumentation. Things started to become more defined and interesting to listen to; more balanced. So where I am concerned for very little more than your basic connection if you have a good quality set up it has to make sense to spend a little more and ditching your basic cheapo connections for something that ultimately delivers a better signal and will make a considerable difference to the quality of sound. Again, this might not be immediately obvious but slowly I think you will begin to appreciate detail that was not there before. Maybe it’s like comparing a cheap cola against a Coca Cola. Both are kind of the same drink and no doubt will quench your thirst but hey ... for those who remember the ads... “it’s the Real Thing!” Goes to suggest you get what you pay for. QED cables have a history and a pedigree with considerably more invested in the development of their products than a company literally stringing a few wires together that will do the job. Firstly, you will notice a significant difference in the quality of the product, the cable, the connection ends. It’s just a far superior product hands down. Although you can buy something for a couple of pounds that will do the trick? Why cut corners when your equipment may costs hundreds of pounds? Think about it! Is it good enough to use something that does the trick? This term is often used for something that will make do and nothing more. A trick is “nothing more” than a form of deception. A distraction if you like. So let me conclude that the difference in the QEDs is not so much the trick of an inferior cable but the delivery of a greater soundstage that is truly Magic.

Seem balanced and give lovely smooth treble to my layman ears
It's interesting. I knew analogue cables make a difference after wiring my home cinema system and hearing the totally different characteristics one good cable had over another. It's not about "better" but more about "different" And the cheap OEM stuff really does sound flat and nasty and compressed. So i order the Amazon Basics 3.5mm to RCA cable (for Edifier S1000DB from Creative Z in Stereo Direct 96k mode) as amazon basics are really nice quality cables and my system sounded lovely. But curiosity got the better of me and i went for these QEDs and ran them side by side to test.Early impressions on a well known piece of music is that the QED vs the AB: louder.Beautifully rounded and separated/layered. Less abrasive treble - smooth and not harsh and hissy. I can't tell any difference really in bass.Subtle differences but it's all minutely cleaner and better layered sound and worth £23. If i went from the bog standard skinny cable it would be night and day but the cheap AB cable is very nice quality. I can't compare to any audiophile cables because i don't have any here but the sound of these QEDs is absolutely spot on for my vocal drum and bass, hip hop and other electronic music. These and some proper isolation pads are little spends that do tighten up your sound.

Typical QED Quality. Great Sound & Cant ever see them see them breaking so should last for years
There is a lot of competition at this £22.00 price point. You can buy cheaper (even from QED)but this 'Graphite' is a good upgrade cable.Using as a link from my Arcam A85 amp (2 x RCA phono's) to my phone (mini jack) - to listen to audible downloads via Mission & KEF speakers.I bought these on excellent reviews and QED's outstanding record for quality & value.Unless you have very high end kit I doubt if you will see a lot of difference ...even if you pay ££ more.I can also highly recommend QED RCA Phono leads, as now everyone is going 'digital' or 'streaming' they can be picked up for much less than a few years ago.Read the reviews & don't be afraid of buying good quality USED cable. Good stuff STAYS GOOD!

Superb build and sound quality
Having just bought my fancy new RME DAC, I bought this cable to replace the el cheapo cable that I had kicking about in order have at least a "decent " cable. I wasn't sure I'd be able to tell much difference in sound but I couldn't have been more wrong. Much deeper bass, greater mid-range clarify and more detailed (and smooth) higher frequencies. The build quality (and packaging) is extremely impressive and feels far more premium than I expected for the price (sub £30). Highly recommended.

Still waiting for an answer from QED.
Looked and felt high quality and well made. Sounds ok but not as good as the optical connection that I was hoping to replace. I chose this because I needed 1.5m length. Cannot comment on its sound performance compared with similar cables, hence can only give it 3.5 stars. I used it with the source and amplifier reversed.ie input via the phono plugs and out via the jack. I emailed QED to ask them if the cable was directional and received at automated reply saying that they would respond in 2-5 days. This was on Jan3rd. It is now Feb14th and I’m still waiting!!!!
