Speachless
I choose this book, because it had a good rating. and I was not disappointed. a very sad story of a girl, who had been through so much, witnessed and made to do unspeakable things, that would affect the rest of her life. Although she could never forget, she fought and eventually she learnt to cope, but what she had endured had made her the person she become. A wonderful book and many times through this book I was speechless, it was sad, cruel and well you need to read it to see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

not what i expected
Mixed feelings about this story,at first I thought she's a victim, then I thought she had so many chances to escape but didn't,my instinct would be to run,and some of the things she did in the cellar to the other girls, I could not have done under any circumstances but we are all different and it's not my story. It wasn't what I was expecting after reading the write up , but still a good read, sometimes frustrating, but another example of how really messed up humans to be to commit this type of crime.

Brilliant!
Josefina Rivera has often been slandered in the press for the part she played out as one of Gary Heidniks victims. This however is a completely brilliantly written autobiography, which hopefully will change the minds of those opposing to the fact that she as well was victimized through a terror which lasted four months.Ms. Rivera gives a wonderfully expressed insight to not only the months spent below ground at the hands of Heidnik, but also as to how she was able to survive and eventually free not only herself but also those remaining imprisoned. This is an absolute must-read for all true crime fans!

Survivor
I stumbled on this book whilst searching for Michelle Knight's. It is a horrendous tale of torture, rape and imprisonment. To the people saying Josefina was an accomplice, if it wasn't for her they'd either all be long dead by now or still in that cellar living out a miserable existence. Credit to Josefina for not just saving herself at the earliest opportunity like many would have. She held on until she could guarantee he couldn't get back to the house and kill them all. She is a selfless hero who did what she had to do, the other girls for various reasons were not capable of master minding their escape. Josefina, if you are reading this then I hope you are living in happiness now.

couldn't believe how the perpetrator of these crimes managed to ...
couldn't believe how the perpetrator of these crimes managed to slip through the psychopath net so many times......had he been detained these crimes could have been avoided, instead 2 girls lost their lives in the most horrific way...the author of this book was one of the lucky ones, if you can call being locked and chained up in a cellar for months lucky...but she managed to escape and raise the alarm.

Good read
I like how you get an insight into life after the awful event. What terrible things happened but the book didn't just end once the person got out just like life things don't just stop. Well worth a read but is rather disturbing to know people can be so cruel. Must have been hard to relive it by writing this book and with the courage taken to write book I feel it is only right you read it
