Works very well. Makes the “Sonic’ style ice
Makes ice pretty fast. Works well. Would be nice if you could hook water up directly instead of having to refill but not a major deal. Nice looking unit as well.

Great for countertop
This ice machine works great for making pellet ice. I wish the container held more, but we just empty it and keep going. It makes the perfect pellet ice chips.

Loving this countertop ice machine!
This Kndko nugget ice maker is awesome…like some others have mentioned, it is very similar to Sonic style ice and though we don’t eat at Sonic, in past times we’ve had a Sonic limeade to know about the ice. Now, we have it at home (yay)! It was packaged very well and protectively with braces around the bottom and in between Styrofoam in the box to help prevent damage from any rough handling during shipment. After unpacking, there’s a clear note advising to let the unit sit on the counter undisturbed for at least 2 hours before plugging it in and using it. I let it sit for 4 hours before starting it up. Gave the interior a good wash with soap/water and drained the water out through the bottom drain port (accessible underneath the base of the unit).Filled the water to the quasi fill line, which is essentially the top part of the interior unit just under where the ice collection basket rests, it doesn’t have an actual marked ‘fill line’. As a side note, the instructions state to run a self-clean cycle every 24 hours and a descaling cycle every month, however I only use distilled water for making ice, so I don’t believe a self-clean cycle every 24 hours is necessary in my case, but I’ll be observing to see when it is needed. There is only one single button on the front of the machine, which completely simplifies *everything* with its operation…you just short-press the button once to turn the ice maker on; short-press the button once to pause the machine during an ice making cycle to add more water, or remove a full basket of ice – both of which the machine automatically pauses for and alerts you to either add water or remove the ice; short-press the button once more to restart the ice making cycle; long-press the button to initiate the self-clean cycle. Easy stuff! The ice started falling out a couple of chips at a time less than 10 minutes after turning it on. It seems that no matter what, the first few bits of ice are softer and smaller, some are misshapen, until it really gets going about 20 minutes into a cycle. By then the ice is coming out in proper shape and hardness. I noticed this makes it necessary to tilt the ice basket to the side when emptying it, to first let the melted ice/water drain out and back into the water reservoir underneath as those initial ice chips melt down before the basket becomes full to be emptied. After more than 10 cycles of this same exact thing happening, I concluded that’s just how the unit works…the initial ice will melt down every time. It takes about 1 hour for the basket to fill and require emptying, and that uses up about 3/4 of the water in the reservoir. The ice doesn’t distribute on its own in the collection basket, so I’ve found it necessary to use the scoop to lightly and quickly spread out the ice in the basket throughout the cycle, otherwise it stacks up in a column causing the unit to pause as though the basket is full (and the ice is left to start melting since the basket area isn’t refrigerated at all to keep it cold/frozen). For this reason, I wouldn’t leave this machine on unattended making ice, it requires some monitoring, every 30-40 minutes for me, to spread the ice out.The unit is fairly compact, not taking up much counter space which is great. I like the polished black, looks sleek. It has a handle, I was surprised to see that, to aid in lifting/carrying the unit if needed. It also has a plastic ice scoop and a hole located at the back of the unit’s lid to hold the ice scoop – that was inventive, but I think it looks a lil odd having the ice scoop sticking up above the lid, would have been better placed on the side at an angle to slide it in (in my opinion). It's also pretty quiet, I don’t have a decibel meter to measure its decibels, but I also have a distilled water maker and this ice maker is much quieter. Since I’m only using it while awake and monitoring it, the noise level isn’t bothersome at all, as it’s running in the background with other normal house sounds from the TVs, the dogs, music, etc. Overall, we really love this unit and plan to use it multiple times per week to make sure we maintain the number of bags of ice we want (we have 8 lb ice bags that we use for this ice). Definitely recommended!!

Works fine with two exceptions
This ice make does what it says it will do, which is no small thing. It does make nugget ice. It's not super quick about it, but it does do it. My two biggest complaints about this are the amount of ice produced and the noise level accompanying that. The basket on this ice make is fairly small. Combine that with the ice maker shutting off when the basket is about 80% full, and you're left with a 'full' basket that would roughly fill up a single large cup. Because these are small nuggets, they can build up by the ice outlet and tell the maker it's full. I don't really see a way around this, other than leveling out the ice in the maker every once in a while. Not a huge deal, but to fill an ice bin in our freezer (which is what we use this for) takes SEVERAL full baskets from this maker. The next issue for me is noise. I saw a few complaints on this when ordering, but am used to noisy ice makers so I didn't expect this to be much different. But this is certainly the loudest ice maker I've had. To the point where we turn it off when in the kitchen, and sometimes even when we're in the family room because this little maker is so loud.It does a fine job, but when this one goes, I'll be looking for a different model when replacing.
