One of, if not THE Best 'Priest LP!
Judas Priests' discography is a but of an anomaly in the Metal bands' pantheon. Most people will tell you Metallica's best is 'Master Of Puppets,' or that Iron Maidens' magnum opus is 'The Number Of The Beast,' but with 'Priest, you have one of 5 different answers, which are this album, 'Sad Wings Of Destiny,' 'British Steel,' 'Defenders Of The Faith,' and 'Painkiller'.'Screaming For Vengeance,' the bands' 8th studio album, is the band at the top of their Eighties' pomp, and is a great mix of epic leads and chunky, heavy riffs. The production is pretty good, but does date it as an 1980's album - the layers of Chorus / Phase / Flange on the guitars and vocals give you a not so subtle hint of this.Song wise, very few album openers are as memorable and great as 'The Hellion/Electric Eye' (the latter perhaps even more relevant today lyrically), the hit single 'You've Got Another Thing Comin' is perhaps their most well known song to many thanks to its' 'GTA : Vice City' and 'Archer' cameos, while the title track is all and more that a title track should be. The deep cuts, often something that bring a Priest album down, are an exception to the rule here, and there isn't one stinker in the bunch.Overall, an excellent Priest album and one that should be in everybody's Top 5. The jury's out whether it is the very best, I personally believe 'Painkiller' to be more consistent and energetic and 'British Steel' to be more iconic, but that's just me, either way, this album should be in every metal fans' collection full stop!

collectors item
Reviewed USA import 30th anniversary vinyl picture disc LP Columbia Legacy 87254 50771.Pleasing reissue of this genre defining album. The artwork is the Wilkinson rework of the original Johnson sleeve design. It contains a single sheet 12 inch inlay and is house in an envelope style PVC outer which is stickered.Interestingly the track running order on the disc seems to be the same as the original release vinyl from 1982, but the printed info on the inlay & on the disc incorrectly says that the track "Pain & Pleasure" opens side two instead of closing side one.A mistake at the production stage evidently which states 5 tracks per side instead of the 6/4 that many of us grew up with.Nice picture disc, a collectors item.

troo metal
A great album from one of the all time great British Heavy Metal bands. Although this sounds dated compared to todays' production, recording techniques, this has the sound of a band giving it all for their fans, you can almost taste the blood and sweat that has gone before to reach this pinnacle. Not everybody will agree that this is a Judas Priest classic, but it gets better after each listen. This album provided a blueprint for a lot of "young" bands, and indeed JP themselves. Please buy this, give a lot of plays and discover the true power of our beloved music. Keep the faith!!!!

Judas Priest at their very best.
This album see's Priest at the top of their game, what followed has never matched it.New vinyl pressing of good quality and sounds fabulous, worth the money paid to have it back on vinyl.

The Priest are back
After the very disappointing Point of Entry, Judas Priest storm back with arguably one of their strongest ever albums.

Bit of a grower this one, gets better with each listen.
Bought this on the back of British Steel and was a bit disappointed at first. However, it's growing on me wth every listen. 'You've got another thing coming' is a well known song, but is so good. The moe I listen, it more it reveals the Judas Priest feeling.

love it.
is this judas priest's best album? i don't know, but it's certainly one of my favourite metal albums.the fact that it comes on grey vinyl doesn't hurt either, i'm always down for weird colours in vinyl.
