Great Tool with Tuning!
This tool was great for the price. It works well out of the box, but if you really want this plane to shine, then you must do what you have to do with just about any tool: fine tuning. After that, this plane is even better!

A fantastic hand planer
This is a wonderful product that functions exactly as expected. I have yet to buy a Jorgensen product that I’ve been unsatisfied or unhappy with. This thing is razor sharp straight out of the box and cuts beautiful ribbons. It’s easy to make adjustments during set up and while you’re using it.

Great value!
I was really surprised to discover that this plane is not a clone of a Stanley Bailey pattern, but rather it's a Bedrock! The machining is very well done. I have not yet checked it for flatness but I anticipate it will need only little work. The iron is high quality and quite thick, as is the chipbreaker. I did have a little trouble at first because the frog screws were loose, but I should have checked that before using it the first time. Once tightened it holds its setting.

I bought the expensive plane and yet
It’s a plane, it takes some arm strength to use it. Heavy. Solid. I’m on my third use, planing pine at the moment. To be fair, I planted an oak desktop prior to this tonight. And the ball is cracking. $70: poof, gone, in 3 uses.(My last plane was $25. This IS expensive for someone who cannot afford a planer or jointer.)

Needs work but is awesome afterwards!
So you can buy a Lie Nielson or Veritas for 5-10x the price or you can get this that is built out of quality materials. The sole is iron and needs to be properly flattened but only took me 20 minutes with 180 grit sandpaper. Plane blade is sharp out of the box and will cut buy won't give a smooth finish. It is A1 tool steel which is great! It's sharpened at 25 degrees but straight no beveled edge which it should be but that's expected. I sharpened it at 25 degrees then put a 30 degree micro edge on it plus beveled the edges and it cuts beautifully. Sharpening took about 20 minutes. So less than an hour of tune up and you'll have a great plane. Weight is very good and the size is perfect for smoothing any size wood. If you need a plane and don't Wana spend 400 bucks plus can't go wrong here! In the first picture I posted that shows the perfect cut this can achieve with proper tuning!

No rust no dings, no sloppy globs of grease, even came with a somewhat good edge!
It didn't turn Roy Underhill style gossamer shavings, but it did turn up some nice somewhat thinnish shavings straight from the box.Adjuster lever and wheel are not loose and sloppy like was the case with a $200 plane I sadly boughtTote (rear handle) is nice, allowing more room for my large hand than I've found on Stanley #4 or #5 planes. It was nice to take from box to wood without having to scrub off a pound of grease, like I usually have to (even with that $200 plane that oddly still had spots of rust....)I haven't used it enough to judge it's durability, edge retention, etc, but I do expect it to perform well, due to the amount of care taken in the machining and packaging.Recommend?YesRegrets? No

Can't say enough
I procrastinated quite a while before going ahead and purchasing this plane, but I finally took the plunge and bought it. This thing worked great right out of the box perfect thin shavings without flattening or sharpening. Can't wait to see how it preforms after a good tune up.

I'm hopeful.
Reviews state this is going to be a nice replacement for an expensive plane. The sole plate was fairly flat. With a little time, a flat stone, and some sandpaper, I fixed it right up. The base-to-side angle is square on the side I plan to use. Everything else appears adequate which is what I expected. My first uses are chatter-free, and I expect increased performance after more experience in determining grain direction and blade sharpening is reached.
