Great value if you are willing to do a little work.
I love this bed for its quality and appearance. This looks GREAT when it is assembled and dressed. (And it's cat approved)1. This is solid wood. No particle board. It is not "single board" but finger jointed wood. Some have complained about this but it is actually more stable than a single long board and often stronger; and this is one of the things that brings the price down. It is well finished and unless someone really studies it up close will not readily notice this. The staining is even and the sanding well done. I found no areas that were rough due to lack of sanding.2. I have experience building furniture (building, not just assembling.) So my experience made this much easier than it would be for a novice. I did it by myself but that was made possible by my experience. It really would be much easier for anyone to do this with a 2nd set of hands. The tricky part is to get all the slats aligned so that the ends can be tightened against them. So at least 2 sets of hands is ideal.3. It is VERY sturdy. I have a daybed that I paid much more for and the solid wood side rails are much stronger that on that one. In fact the front one on that broke and it hadn't even been abused. I had to repair and reinforce it with solid wood. I think this will withstand a great weight without problems.4. If you have lifting difficulties or small doors etc. to navigate this is a good plan. I am on my own and have spinal stenosis so lifting and carrying things upstairs is a challenge. There is a lot of wood in this bed and the package is heavier than I could lift and carry up stairs. BUT: The fact that what you get to assemble is literally boards, just like you would have if you were building the bed means that you can open the box and carry as many or as few boards as you like. And boards will fit through any door a person fits through.5. The one thing that gives this bed away as a consumer assembled rather than a factory built piece is that the fasteners (bolts) are visible in several places on the finished bed. I have never liked the little wooden buttons that come with self assemble furniture so I don't miss those. But you might not like the bolt heads visible. They are countersunk so if you wanted you could fill in the holes with dowel and cut/sand flush and finish to match or fill in with putty or another filler. The holes don't bother me so I have just painted the screw heads to match the stain using acrylic craft paint that costs less than $1.6. It is high enough to get DEEP storage bins underneath. It is also so high that if you have anything deeper than a standard mattress it will be quite high. It's not like sitting on a sofa.

exactly as described
This is sturdier than I expected. Don't rush the assembly and don't over-tighten the the screws. I've put together slatted platform beds and this is easy even if your reluctant 2-minute assistant is bare minimum help holding the back during final alignment. The finish is nice and smooth. It fits a twin mattress perfectly and looks great. I chose the wood over an upholstered daybed for airflow and stability, and love that I can change the bedding style from completely covered in the winter to exposed back for steamy summers. It has an organic vibe which reminds me this is a smarter purchase over synthetic daybeds that will end up in landfills. One suggestion to the manufacturer: Offer optional support legs. I have similarly constructed beds from kd frames and they offer extra legs for a little more $$, that you can attach for increased support. I wouldn't mind having an extra leg supporting the long board in front, and one in the back.It was professionally packaged too. The delivery person dropped it on the concreate step and the sonic boom caught my full attention from inside my house. I was expecting damage but it was fine.10 STARS! I love it!

Looks fantastic - INITIAL REVIEW
This took me a couple days to build (did it solo) but it looks great after completion. Recommend at least two people, especially when attaching the back. Now that it's finished, it looks great. It appears sturdy (the glued wood on the slats drew questions) and very solid. You really have to build this from scratch but it may have the best instructions combined with numbered pieces (stickers that pull off easy - imagine it!) I've done so far. It appeared quite daunting when I pulled all the pieces out of the box but once I got going, I did most of it in about half a day, including all the hard work. Two people can probably complete in a couple hours, tops. INITIAL REVIEW - have to check the slats. Will review them later. Could increase rating later.

Broke into pieces while trying to assemble.
It was already incredibly difficult to put together but while I was assembling it, the wood boards started splitting and cracking. Eventually, it got to the point of no return and I was unable to assemble it.

Solid wood walnut daybed
We decided to put a daybed in our study as a sofa for ourselves and as a guest bed for the occasional overnight visitor. We are hefty Nordic/Germanic/Celtic types and so are most of our friends and relations. We were shocked to discover that most metal daybeds and several wooden ones were not designed to bear our weight. This one will, though not with much to spare. It is not the world's most comfortable sofa, but with a mass of throw pillows against the back rail, it will do. Its advantage is that it looks quite nice and makes our study more rather than less habitable for a reasonable price, and it does not take up too much floor space as a sofa with a pull-out bed well might. Since we've only had it a few months we cannot tell how well it will hold up, but we are optimistic. Three people sit on it in a row without trouble when we have family meetings on Zoom. Putting it together was no trouble, but all the bolts had to be very well tightened. Choosing colourful bedding for it to complement the room was rather fun.

Very pretty and seems sturdy
The box was a little beat up when it came and there was a chip on one of the pieces of wood (luckily it’s on the back of the bed so you can’t see it), but overall assembly was mostly easy! I do recommend having someone help you because some of the pieces can be a little heavy when putting it together. I was also skeptical about getting a twin xl mattress vs a twin because of a lot of other people in the reviews said that it wouldn’t fit although the dimensions were along the lines of a twin xl. I just went with it and purchased a 10” memory foam twin xl mattress and it fits like a glove. Changing the sheets can be a bit of a challenge, but it isn’t super terrible. It’s a very sturdy day bed and seems like it will hold up in the long run.
