Great first foldable e-bike, backed my excellent customer service
I researched a ton of e-bike brands and finally purchased an Oraimo Scrambler due to its folding feature and price point. I looked at Aventon, Evelo, Ride1up, Velotric, and Lectric to name a few.I wanted a folding electric bike that was under $1000 and the Oraimo Scrambler fit the bill. A couple of key points I've noticed is that the bike is fairly easy to put together. The assembly videos on YT were very straight forward and illustrated what you need to do to go riding in a quick fashion. My build had some rubbing on the front brakes which stopped the wheel from spinning freely , thus creating a little drag when riding. Not ideal so I sent an email to support and they responded right away with a video on how to adjust the front brakes. I'm no expert on bike repair and I couldn't stop the brakes rub after adjustment so I took it to a local bike shop for repair which Oraimo agreed to reimburse me for the cost. As of this 12/7/23, I haven't heard back or been reimbursed. The repair cost was $23.54, so not a big deal for piece of mind when braking suddenly over 20 mph. In addition, there's a 12 month warranty on this bike as well.I received the bike back and went for ride with a full battery and used it mostly on Pedal assist 0 to get exercise and it petals like my older Trek Navigator mountain bike. However, for hills the 750 watt motor really helps when you need it in the other Petal Assist modes. I was able to cover a few miles in a short time and get a good workout. My primary reason for getting back into biking was to cover longer distances and exercise. I do play a lot of golf in the summer and I calculated I walked over 1 million steps this summer playing at my club which equated to 280 miles of walking. Great exercise and wanted to bike over the winter and early spring before golf started again. The cadence sensor on the bike seems to surge a bit some times and I didn't experience any "ghost pedaling". The folding feature is great and it fits in the trunk of my smaller electric car with no issues. Bike rack not needed! This is a budget bike so the most of the parts are budget for the price and I've seen the other foldable e-bikes for over a $1000 but you get better batteries, hydraulic brakes, tires, lights, etc.The batteries and charger are both UL listed for the Oraimo Scrambler which help with safety issues. I bought a LIPO battery safe from Amazon as well to store the battery when not being used in the bike.Other after market items I purchased that were not included were front and rear led lights (Asher Ultra Bright), bell to notify bike path walkers, and a U lock.In summary, I'm glad I purchased the Oraimo Scrambler. I'm 6' and with the seat up I have adequate leg extension for pedaling and it's a fairly comfortable. The bike does not have a front suspension fork as the seat has it built in. I could see upgrading the seat down the road but for now it works. This bike is mainly for trail riding on my local bike paths only. I dislike biking on public roads any longer because how people drive now a days. I just fold it up, drive a short distance to the trail and away I go. I haven't done a range test but I intend on pedaling most of the time so it shouldn't an issue. So far, I do recommend the brand and look forward to exploring more of the trails that I have access to.
