They do a good job.
Got them for my wife who no longer needs the heavy and expensive ones, these fit better into her bag and cost me a lot less £££'s. I think they do as good a job as I haven't heard any complaints yet.

Okay
Found these to be a bit on the heavy side for long hair. They are basic straighteners, heating fairly quickly to a temperature of up to 200 degrees. No auto shut off so check where your teenage daughter uses them.

Not salon quality, but good value
These straighteners are easy to use and very light, which is nice as many cheaper models can be quite heavy, leading to difficulty styling the back of your head. The plates are smooth and they warm up quickly, and the lead is plenty long enough for home use. The one criticism I have is that you have to grip them hard to get a result - especially when styling towards the ends of the hair, or you end up with the ends being missed. Overall, good quality for the price.

Good for home use.
Well, these were a fortuitous select given my wife wanted some for herself at home. I mention this since she's a professional hairdresser so what follows are her words.Enjoy.As a professional hairdresser I'm used to my Corioliss straighteners which straighten afro Caribbean hair in 2 strokes so these ones were a little disappointing. However, upon reflection, probably much better for the younger generation who don't appreciate the damage repeated straightening causes. No temperature control, & take a few minutes to heat up but on off switch is in a good place, no chance of accidentally turning them off.Comfortable to hold, lovely smooth plates ensure they glide down the hair. Quite a long lead for convenience. They look lovely, matt black with coloured plates.I wouldn't recommend them for professional use but I would for an occasional user.

Light, and very snazzy
Really great straighteners. The picture doesn't do them justice, they look lovely. They are slim and light and the plates are so smooth they don't snag your hair.they performed really well and I can recommend them.

They work, but not especially well
Obviously for £17.99 (current price here on Amazon) these straighteners aren't going to hit GHD levels of effectiveness. But as budget price hair straighteners go, these do work but they wouldn't be my choice, for the following reasons.1. They're heavy.2. They have to be stored 'open', there's no lock to close them or cap to hold them closed.3. The straightening effect isn't strong. I have heavy, coarse hair and had to go over my hair several times with the straighteners. Usually if straighteners are a bit ineffective I can compensate by changing the heat settings, but this straightener only has one heat.4. There's no auto-off function, which for me is a big no-no. For me, an auto-off is a basic safety feature (like a smoke alarm in a house), and it's just foolish to use 200 degree heated irons without that basic safety. For budget hair straighteners I've been using the Wahl brand for years, and these Nicky Clarke straighteners don't come close; I'll stick with Wahl for my cheapos.

Low cost, low specification
Considering the budget price these straighteners are functional and fairly basic in specification. The good points to note are that they are compact, have smooth plates and are low price. Unfortunately, they are weighty and take a little while to heat up to 200c. There is also no auto switch off safety device, which I would expect from all straighteners whatever the price. The straightening effect is acceptable, but may need to be run over the hair several times to achieve good results. The final negative point is a lack of lock to keep the bades closed when not in use.For budget straighteners these are OK, but for a little more money there are much better available.
