I receive a returned but functional tool and it was exactly what I needed. I used the to help me pinpoint a location for one floor to another.If I could give just one suggestion I would like to be able to set a default for measurement scales (meters or feet).I love mine and it has already found a home in my tool bag.

If I could wish for one more thing on this, it would be 2 bubble levels. Otherwise, it works very nicely.

For a guy who worked in the construction industry, trying to measure something without a tape is just uncomfortable. Having done renovations in homes where hundreds of measurements must be made to provide an estimate, the idea of spending all day with a tape trying to judge areas and ceiling heights and all the myriad other things that will return to bite you, it is daunting.When I first saw this instrument - and it is a precision instrument - I immediately judged it as robust - a thick ribbed case to protect the inner workings of this magical thing. When I started to use it, I was truly shocked at its speed and accuracy. A simple task like measuring the height of the ceiling in a foyer, (it's 5.485 meters, 17' 11 15/16 inches, 215 15/16 inches) would involve getting out the FatMax thick tape and sliding it up the wall so it didn't bend backwards and flipping it out from the molding so it was an accurate measurement. With this tool - 10 seconds. Done! OMG that's amazing.If you want an area measurement (great for real estate people) push the button twice and there's your area - want to know the height of a pole or a tree (and let's be honest, we would usually be guesstimating) - two measurements of a triangle and there's your height - all in seconds - this is a wonderful tool.It comes with a very tough Cordura type case with a belt loop, and a concise manual to teach you how to use its immense capabilities.My one small gripe ( and no it's not serious enough to lower my rating) is threading that silly little loop through that tiny little hole, to attach the supplied lanyard - which you should do because dropping this precision tool can't be a good thing. It took me 30 minutes!!Let me save you some time - it means nothing to you until it's time to attach that lanyard: open the battery door for a better angle to thread the loop back up. Make note of this and refer to it when you decide to attach the lanyard - because it was a bear. You're welcome.For a construction person, installer, estimator, this is a wonderful tool that will add to your arsenal of things to guess at a price. For a Real Estate person, this tool is invaluable - it really is - it's fast, accurate and gets you out of the home in record time. I recommend it.

I wanted to use this to measure the vertical drop down a hill. Basic trigonometry, and that function is built in the device. However, I found the angle measurements are inaccurate. I ordered a replacement but that one has the same issue (pics of variation in readings while both are side by side, horizontally & vertically positioned on a level table surface).This wouldn't be so bad if they allowed the device to be recalibrated. I had reasonable expectations for accuracy/precision of a tool at this price, but being up to 11° off and disagreeing with each other by up to 4.5° really limits their utility for my purpose.

Great range, able to measure my 2 story gutters from ground.

Screen can only be read straight on.The units revert back to meters every time making it a pain to keep changing them.

This is a first impression. You get a lot in a tiny package. Model DPF-C/G70First measurements were off quite a bit, then after use it came to its senses.Does not retain the measurement mode last used. I use Ft+In which is at the end of the sequence and my concern is that continuous use of that button may cause early failure.Mounting the provided lanyard is close to impossible because the two holes do not help loop it back through. Ie., Square bottom. Will get a sewing needle threader and try again.Lastly, the provided pouch will not protect the device from accidental activation.

It does the job perfectly. Very accurate.
