Zefal Swan Road Bicycle Fender (Black, Rear)

I was looking for a removable fender for my road bike for the times when the conditions needed it as I do tend to ride some rail trails and gravel along with roads. I came across this and it's great as it's easy to set up and remove with the screw down clamp. It's also light and sturdy and long enough to cover the rear wheel sufficiently to keep your backside clean.The only minor downside is that my bike has a D shaped seatpost which it's not designed for as it is for a round post. Therefore it's a little more difficult to keep the fender aligned properly over the rear wheel but not a big deal and as long as it's tight it shouldn't shift very frequently.

I bought Zefal's fender as replacement for old fender I had on my road bike. The old fender (while also made for road bikes) was a bit too short, and would keep rotating slightly out of alignement while riding. Both resulting in my back getting wet on rainy days.I had a chance to try out new Zefal's fender on wet roads today. It worked very well, keeping my back completely dry. The seat post on my bike is V-shaped towards the back, and the attachment on this fender is shaped the same, preventing the fender from rotating. I had to remove rubber insert so that it fits around seat tube nicely (being V-shaped, the seat tube on my bike is bigger than classic circular seat tubes). The fender is just the right length and shape for road bike. It was trivial to install and adjust it.

I use this on long trail rides when there may be some muddy conditions. Quickly goes on and off the bike. (I didn't leave it on when I was carrying the bike on the back of the car.)*** Since this attaches to the tube that holds up your seat, it requires free space on that tube. If your seat is in the lowest possible position, you won't have room for this device. If your seat is fairly low, you may have to move or remove a rear reflector (and/or saddle bag) to make room for this. I'm 6'2", so was able to make this work by removing my rear reflector, and putting a tail light on the back of my saddle bag.My bike has disc brakes. If you have have rim brakes, they may increase the amount of space needed for this device (?).

Good product that was very easy to attach. I assume it will work fine, haven't had any rainy days lately here. I honestly want to give it 5 stars but it's thinner/more narrow than another brand that I had for years before this one and I went with Zefal just to try something new and I kind of don't like how much thinner it is. But maybe that's my fault, maybe I should have looked into the specs before purchasing it. Other than how narrow it is it's a Five Star product in my opinion.

I was looking for something thin -something that wouldn't look ridiculous and overbearing on a road bike. Also wanted something light, and easy to take with you, to avoid giving it away for free. This is definitely it! Works as advertised in terms of stopping rain and mud. Tightens around my CF seat post with no shims in a matter of seconds and wiggles very little, if any, because it's so light. The parts are plastic, so I'm sure it's possible to break the mounting mechanism but this isn't your average type of plastic, it's more rigid and strong. You can use a hex key to modify the angle of the fender, a nice customizing touch. Plus, the screw/cap on the mechanism has a reflective ring around it for high visibility/safety. Would definitely recommend!

Works perfectly fine for a ten speed size tire.

I love this fender so much. It takes less than a minute to take on and off. I swap it between all of my bikes, and it also goes on so easily on mainly any seat post! Most importantly, it saves me from being wet on my rear side (which we all know is the worst when cycling in the rain). Highly highly recommend if you want any easy to install mudguard without paying too much!!

This is a great light weight fender, and was very easy to put on my Trek. Wish I had bought one years ago. Super reasonable price. I have a Trek hybrid bike, and it looks great on it.

I wanted something that I can easily attach and this fits the criteriathough narrow it shielded my back from 99% of the dirt my roadbike was spittingon me. Very efficient.

Bought two of these mudguards for my road bikes, they are superb, very slim and super sturdy. Only £9 each was an absolute bargain.

Works well and not too bulky like some others.

Love this fender. So easy to install, light and stylish. Only problem is it’s easy to steal (lost one already)
