This kit comes with everything you need to get started in testing precious metals. It comes with 10k, 14k, 18k, 22k, platinum and silver testing acids. It also has a fairly decent scale, two (2) stones for scraping the metal, a needle file set, a very nice loupe, and a 5 Grain pure silver bar and 1 gram gold plate bar. The bars are for practicing your technique. The acid, loupe and stones work exceptionally well, and the files and scale are pretty good. The kit also has a little catalogue with other products. This is a very nice kit, and I love it! Also, read the instructions before using it. The Acids, while not as dangerous as the bottles say, can still hurt your skin, and definitely can burn your eyes.

It is a good kit for the money. I tested some jewelry that I had and found it to be accurate.I purchased this kit, hoping to improve my garage sale finds, but haven't seen as much Jewelry as I have in years past. Either it's Murphy's law, or bad luck. I still keep it with me when I'm out hunting, hope I get to use it more during the next garage sale season.

The seller was very prompt at getting my product to me and answering my question. However the gold kit does not work for me. I do not wear my engagement ring but I am positive the wedding ring which is very very thin by now is 24kt but the engagement ring only 14 kt. The kit shows neither one as gold. I did not get acid for 24 kt but iit should have showed gold for one of the lesser acids. (I am sure} Otherwise the silver kit works fine. I was never told what to use the files for. I am open for suggestions or critisim.

measures grams to 0.01 precision and the other bits (although I need to learn to use them) are quite helpful. The loupe in particular will be useful. There was a slight issue with the contents but a couple of Emails with quick responses solved the issue.I bought the kit for the scale and the ability to learn how to verify my gold/silver purchases. The scale seems to work great as my coins all checked out to 31.1g +/- 0.1 which is as it should be.If I need more supplies of this type I will not hesitate to purchase from Hexacomb

Easy to find out what one has. Scales do not work for large items like soup ladles. All is totally professional. Some of my silver went to the garbage as they were only silver plate. Don't let buyers scam you by putting all your gold together. You know what you have and can easily figure out its value based on the today's price and the amount of gold in your item, be it 10K to 18K. This is one thing that works very, very well. I LOVE IT!!!!!

For the price you really get a good deal here, the scale works great, I love the gold testing solutions, and the magnifier has come in handy quite a few times. If you are into gold/silver this is a definite must have.

good item for the price. scale is not adjustable, but can be calibrated to 100 g with included sample. good for basic work & approximate weights.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loved it! He didn't need everything that was included but he wanted it anyway and had a good time with it.

The kit that I received had missing and incorrect items compared to the kit that I purchased. I carefully compared the various different Puritest kits, and chose this particular one over two other kits because I wanted the 5 pieces of scrap gold and the 10 piece file set in a variety of shapes that this kit said it came with. However, the scrap gold was missing altogether and the 10 files that I received were all identical. Puritest did not offer to rectify the issue in any way. If I had known that this kit didn't come with scrap gold and came with 10 identical files, I would have purchased a different kit altogether. The testing solutions and scale are fine, but overall I am extremely disappointed with this purchase.
