The book outlines the journey from great optimism when many of the major British car brands were amalgamated. It takes you through the many management changes, and ups and downs (mostly downs) of the various phases of the company(s) to its eventual demise.You're taken through the industrial relations disasters (which I can just remember), also the collaborations with Honda, BMW, British Aerospace and Ford.Highly recommended.

Ich war schon durch andere Lektüre über das Scheitern von British Leyland einigermaßen gut informiert. Aber dieses Buch stellt in der Fülle der Detail Informationen alles bisherige in den Schatten. Die Tragödie wird in allen Details aufgearbeitet. Tiefer können die Einblicke kaum sein.

Interesting book but more photos of the models would have been great.

Having read less than 10% of this book and taking into consideration it was co-written by three supposed experts, I come to page 12 with a big illustration of “Jaguar XJS”, when there is clearly a picture of a early Jaguar XJ4 door saloon. Am I just to dismiss this as an editorial goof? Somehow the balance of this book is going to be compromised by the fact that the average reader may not even notice the mistakes and the sloppy editing. I will read the whole thing, but these kinds of basic errors make me wonder about the validity of the entire book.Reader beware.
