This short "3.5 mm" male plug to RCA female jack is necessary when one has a radio (such as PL-880) that only provides as an antenna port a "3.5 mm" jack. [note that the plug is not actually 3.5 mm - just close] Would have preferred to have had a BNC female (in place of RCA female) to connect to more common antenna transmission line. Adapters/cables with RCA male to BNC female are available. Best of all is to have radios with BNC antenna ports.
