Cheap and easy! I installed it on my V brakes without issue as long as I got the pads close enough to the wheel that the short pull worked ok. I find that they are easier to modulate light braking anyway. I got the rear mech sorted really easily but the front is still a bit out. I wish these had an adjustment for this at the shifter so that I don't have to keep taking the cable out and damaging it and I could make finer adjustments. I don't think it is the shifter's fault but more likely the front mech is not adjusted right or it is damaged. I think with more fiddling I could get it closer, but these work well enough that I plan to just ride it as is and deal with a bit of crunchy shifting on the front. Overall I think these work well.One suggestion would be to improve the mounting mechanism. I tightened the heck out of them and they still have a tendency to turn inwards. Maybe some knurls or something to give it better lock onto the bars. Paired with Upanbike drop bars (photo) to convert my 1997 Specialized HardRock AX from the original flat bars, with twist shift. I had to shim the mounting clamps to get the levers to tighten properly on the bars, but that's no biggie. My cantilever brakes, adjusted to my normal scant clearance, work perfectly with these brake levers. Rear derailleur worked flawlessly from the start, once I removed a slight bit of excess slack from the cable.Front derailleur took a lot of finagling. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to shift through all three chainrings -- I could get either the middle and big, or middle and small, but not all three. Noticed that the whole derailleur cage was slightly misaligned, so I loosened and rotated the derailleur the slightest little bit, and I was in business. Cheap Shimano Alivio derailleurs with minimal adjustments possible, but until (unless) I upgrade, it works fine now.

If you are buying these then you are definitely on a budget like me. They are loads better than the tube shifters I had on my extremely low budget road bike. They will take a lot of adjusting and if you are not experienced it will take time. Once properly adjusted it works like a charm. Just make sure your cable housings are the proper length from the shifters and it will shift like a breeze/

Delightfully surprised as the quality of these cheap(low cost) shifters. Nothing about them feels like the price point.

These are great shifter/brakes! They work perfect on my side pull v brakes and shift great!

First ride on the tandem with the new shifters today. Great. Rear shifter worked without a problem!! The front has a pretty long reach to upshift but overall, it was the best ride on the tandem in a couple of years.

I had an easy time mounting the shifters, but they didn’t tighten up all the way. Also on front derailer would skip down from 3 to 1 skipping over 2nd. I put in a significant time into the bike I’m building and at the last tuning of the components, and having this fail sucks.
