Modify this Extender to fit Maverick Truck - Maximize Bed Room
This bed extender is the perfect starting point for building a perfect size extender for a Ford Maverick. This extender is made for full sized trucks. The Maverick is a compact truck. I previously purchased a Maverick extender and it was 6 inches short of the tailgate edge. A compact truck needs a maximum size extender. The following modifications were made to this full size extender to make it fit the compact Maverick and provide maximum truck bed room:1. Cut 1 inch off both ends of the (6) curved tubes.2. Cut down the (3) straight tubes to 18 inches.3. Assemble per instructions but, add 6 rivets (SS 3/16 dia x 1/4 grip) where the curved and straight tubes overlap. The stock mounting brackets are awesome, no loose parts and easy to R&R extender. I attached the brackets to truck bed with rivets instead of the supplied sheet metal screws. It fits great and is both taller/deeper than base Maverick extender. See picture for comparison.Another bonus, the price is very good.

Not perfect but decent for price.
Bought this fir my 2015 silverado 1500 with a short bed. As shipped the bed extender was 2 inches to long. Easy to modify if you have the right tools. Also the middle 2 rail supports are he'd together with screws. Some of the stripped out with very little force. The design would be better with through bolt design like the hinge plates. Also the hinge bracket is rather wide and I was only able to get 2 screws to align with the bed properly. All in all decent item for the orice but not perfect.

Wont last
I bought this exactly one year ago. It is falling apart. The screws that it comes with strips the plastic that holds them, even if you dont strip them putting them in originally. They come loose eventually. This means the vertical bars do not hold the horizontal bars tightly and they can slide out. I have even resorted to removing the companies plastic screw holders and replacing with new stainless steel screws and nuts with washers and even this is not working because eventually the plastic breaks and the washers fall inside and there is nothing to tights the nut to anymore. Its just cheap. You get what you pay for.

Not the best quality
Unfortunately Ford ran out of the one on their website so I took a chance on this, should of waited for Ford to restock.First shipping and delivery was fast and everything was well protected and in good shape when it arrived. I say that for what I'm about to talk next. For the first few pieces sliding together went well. Sharp edges and unclean cuts were a slight hazard putting together but i was wearing gloves. The bottom bar did not fit at all. I had to use pliers, a hard plastic hammer and a mallet to get them to slide together. Luckily it is soft aluminum and after some metal working the pieces finally when inside one another but It did not slide easily. The plastic pieces that hold the bars together are very cheap and felt like it would break easily, which it did. The screws that sandwich together the bars in place do not line up with the rails. Took a lot of manipulating for them to fit. And one screw did break the plastic mold, so I believe I only have 5 of the 6 installed on one side.Attaching the metal holders to the d pillar was ok. Measuring twice, drilling one hole and marking the other three was easy. The part that really made me upset was the quality of the hardware. The screws are pure garbage. After pre-drilling with the correct size drill bit, the screws stripped and sheared off inside the hole on the D Pillar. Luckily I have easyout bits and cobalt drill bits. Do your self a favor and go to the hardware store and get some stainless steel sheat metal screws. Get the hex head, makes life much easier and think Lowes has them for $6. It's functional and install on my Ttuck but at the end of the day I wish I would have bought the ones on Ford website. May be twice as much but worth the trouble and time.
