Action styling without looking Action Man
Given a watch is no longer a necessity, the portable clock role having been taken by smartphones, watch choices are more about style and durability. Fortunately this watch wins on both counts. The watch is huge. It's a large, statement piece that would overwhelm anything but the manliest wrist. It's chunky and solid, so virtually indestructible, but that does add to its bulk. The dial is pleasingly easy to read in all lights, and the lumination works brilliantly - much, much better and more reliable than other illuminated watches I've worn (Swatch, Fossil, Timex). The fabric strap is extremely comfortable, and it's very quick drying if it gets damp. For this size watch, the nylon strap is far lighter and more flexible than a metal strap would be.The combat commando styling looks a little Action Man in the photos, but out of the box the watch looks a lot less toy-like and more professional. It's fine for work wear and doesn't look like something out of the dressing up box.The watch packaging is delightful - outer box, inner hard display box. So that gives a nice added value touch. The reason for four stars, instead of five stars, is the price. There's currently no price for the watch here on Amazon, so I don't know the retail price. If the watch is under £150 it's a bargain. If it's over £200 it's over-priced.

LUMINOX XS3517
This is most definitely a five star item, worthy of all the praise I can give it!From the minute you see the beautiful presentation box, you know that this is a very special timepiece. The watch itself is very attractive, and has a webbing style strap, and a really attractive, easy to read face. The strap has a kind of double layer effect, which makes for a very secure felling. It incorporates something called LLT (Luminox Light Technology) - I have no idea how this works, but it does - and gives excellent, not overpowering light. The watch is waterproof, and although I haven;t tested this to any depth, I am confident it will work to the standard promised. All in all, this is a very high quality watch - a really stylish and efficient addition to any watch collection.

A Rugged and Classy Timepiece
This is a seriously smart and cool watch. Whether or not it's genuinely the first choice of Special Forces throughout the world, it certainly looks the part.First off, my watch arrived in different packing to that pictured here. Rather than the ruggedised, military-look box, mine came in a more conventional but upmarket package. Inside, the watch looks very classy. The impression is very militaristic, with its black casing, green dial and matching green webbing strap. The strap is quite pliable, and doubled-over so it can be made very long, enough to be strapped over clothing. This is ideal if to be worn in cold conditions on top of a jacket. The face is very distinctive and easy to read. The big feature of the watch is its illumination, which uses a light emitting gas. The effect is quite subtle, and only effective in low light conditions; another feature that relates to its military pedigree. But despite the rugged look and capability of this watch, it's surprisingly light on the wrist. Is there a down-side? Well, as of it's nature, it's a pretty chunky, rugged looking watch. If you have skinny wrists, it may look a little out of proportion. But if you're looking for a military-style watch that both looks and acts the part, then you surely won't do better than this.

Superb Elite Forces Watch.
This watch is amazing. Luminox supply watches for various government agencies and elite forces around the world, especially in the US. The Navy Seals, FBI, ATF, Coast Guard, Sea Wolves and fighter pilots are just some of the organisations in the US that Luminox supply watches to. There are plenty other world wide elite forces that are also supplied by Luminox.Luminox are a Swiss manufacturer, all the best watches makers seem to hail from Switzerland and Lumnox are another elite watch making brand. What sets Luminox apart from other manufacturers is the stealthy luminous watch hands and face. The watch stays luminous with very little light absorption first. This technology is called Luminox Light Technology (LLT) and functions without pressing a button and has a life span of around 25 years. For the elite forces you can see why the LLT is so appealing, Navy Seals and other soldiers are likely to need a stealthy time piece they can rely on in the dark, that is subtle enough not to be seen from a distance. The watch strap has a typical NATO strap with extra lugs to keep the strap neat. The watch is also nice and light another appealing factor for the elite forces. The watch is well packaged and comes in a beautiful presentation box, where a warranty guarantee card and watch booklet is tucked away in the pull down compartment. This watch seems to tick all the boxes for the elite forces and you can see why, highly recommended. .
