3 ladies, a bookshop and life during WW2
This is the second book in the series about the small town of Churchwood and three of its special residents. The ladies have managed to pull the town together even more to survive the war by opening a bookshop in the Church hall, that offers so much for the community in its time of need.Naomi has made some major changes in her life and she gets to spend time with her new friends and volunteer with the Bookshop. But one of these changes is finally admitting that to herself that her marriage has issues, especially with her husband Alexander spending more and more time in London where he works. One suspicious thought turns into more and when she can’t get the gumption up to hire a private investigator, the only way for her to solve her questions is if Naomi goes to London and follows him, not once but multiple times. Is she prepared though when the truth reveals its ugly head?Kate is still having issues with her father and older brothers on Brimbles Farm. When the twins join up, it means more responsibility will fall on her which she doesn’t want at all. It also means spending time with her friends at the Bookshop will not be happening. So Kate convinces her father that in order for the farm to survive they need to hire Land Girls. When the two girls show up (Ruby and Gertrude aka Pearl) show up, they were not what anyone expected at all and Kate wasn’t sure if they were going to be the right fit. Especially since her two remaining brothers seemed to be getting distracted by them. But will they work out in the end especially after a secret is revealed? And will the pilot named Leo that Kate met by chance be the one chance for her to find love?Alice is engaged to Daniel and she has her constant worries about him off fighting after almost losing him once before at Dunkirk. While she loves reading stories, writing letters and more in the town and for the patients at the hospital she wants more in her life. But her injured hand is preventing her from finding the work she thinks she needed to be doing. All three of these ladies have their struggles at times and it is amazing how they are able to work through them over time and with the support of each other. When the bookshop is threatened and the new vicar and his wife make major changes, the three of them need to work together even harder and keep the town together so it can survive.I could go on and on about the book, but that would give too much away. It’s a great book of a series to add to your to be read list. Can’t wait for the third one to come out.

Excellent Story!
I absolutely Loved this book! It was so much fun (not to mention tearful) catching up with Alice, Kate, and Naomi. These three ladies are so different from each other, and the best of friends, that it's very easy to get caught up in their lives and love interests. Without giving away details of the story, I cried alongside each of them, and just adored the ending. With a few pompous characters I wanted to smack, I highly recommend you grab a copy. I'm off to read Alice, Kate, and Naomi's Christmas story next.

Great Book
Land Girls at the Wartime Bookshop is a great historical fiction saga and is the second book in the delightful WWII-era series by Lesley Eames. This is the follow up to the delightful The Wartime Bookshop that I thoroughly enjoyed. I really loved visiting the quaint English village of Churchwood again and to reminisce with the inhabitants. Each of the three main characters: Kate, Naomi, and Alice are intertwined but yet have their own respective professional, social, and romantic challenges. There are also a few new curveballs and characters thrown in for good measure in this book as well.I love the Wartime Bookshop and all that it adds to the feel and theme of this series. I am definitely looking forward to further installments.5/5 stars

Thoroughly enjoyable read
I was looking forward to the second book in this series and it didn't disappoint. There is good character development with also the introduction of new characters who will no doubt feature later in the next two novels in this series. There is a good pace with the various plots. The book brings to life the hardships faced by ordinary people in WW2. Would definitely recommend for a good read.

Good continuation
Not long received and started this book so a bit too soon to comment really. It seems good in the first five chapters and the characters and scenarios are already familiar from the first book. Think it will be enjoyable.
