The Crushing of Army Group North 1944–1945 on the Eastern Front: Images of War Series

The books are best for beginners that would just like some general information ...
This is the third or fourth book I've purchased from Pen & Sword in their Images of War series and I have not been that impressed with any of them. These are largely picture books with a little bit of text at the start of each chapter to give background to the photos. The books are best for beginners that would just like some general information and to see a bunch of photographs. For someone that has more knowledge of World War II I would say pass on these books. Everyone I've purchased shows flaws in the picture selection and captions. For example, there is a photo of 3.7cm Pak 36. I don't think any of those were still in service by 1944 and yet it was included in this book. The opposite page has two SdKfz 250/10 armored halftracks with 3.7cm Pak 36s, but the caption says they are soft skinned SdKfz 10/4 halftracks with 2cm Flak guns. On the positive side there are some photos I have not seen before after having been reading and collecting WWII books since the 1980s, but that doesn't make up for the other flaws.

The prose was also quite good describing the situation in the Baltic states as Army ...
To me there were several photos from Lithuania, Latvia, etc. that I had not seen before that seemed unique to this area. I have actually traveled there in the past. The prose was also quite good describing the situation in the Baltic states as Army Group North kept getting over-run and pushed back to the shores of the Baltic Sea.

Wehrmacht on the move --- the wrong way
Competently done but lacking much detail. Primarily of interest for the rare photos.

All OK.
As above.
