Not the same as a cobber as there is a line sewn down the middle creating 2 small connected expanding tubes rather than 1 large expanding tube but for the money, they are excellent. I have 3 original cobbers, used for years and sadly can't find 2 so I purchased these as replacements. Getting 5 for a fraction of the cost of 1 cobber. If you only want 1 or 2 or are going somewhere very hot, buy a cobber as they are better but for an English summertime these will do just fine. Sadly, I dont think that some of the reviewers understand how to use them or how they work. First of all, soak in water for a few minutes and redistribute the expanding beads as they begin to take up the water. Dont leave it in the water and walk away, they might burst through. The water can be iced, cold or at room temperature it doesn't matter although the cooler the better for instant relief. The cooling effect is felt over a period of time as the water from the beads evaporates after being heated by your body heat and there is a good supply of blood around the neck so it works really well. You might still feel a bit warm or even hot but if you compare with and without the neck tie you will realise how much it has helped cool you and is easy to refresh/topup with a minute in some water . It got me through a heavily pregnant hot summer! Dry thoroughly and store when not in use for a few weeks or longer and soak again next time you need it. To wash, slosh around in soapy water and rinse immediately several times. Should last for years.

I purchased this 5 pack for the assumed cooling function and the 5 different colours but on arrival l had two red ones ! So the blue had been substituted with another red. But, l thought if they do the job no worries. Alas they did not succeed in cooling enough or for even a while. I suffer with migraine and thought these would be better than the cold wet flannel l use normally. Being that the flannel often slips off. But they don't. I shall use them still but only for keeping the cold flannel on my head. So l would not consider buying these if l had known they don't work. But to leave on a good point the delivery was very good.

Was really looking forward to these arriving after reading some of the positive reviews. What a waste of money. Soaked them in cold water as instructions, even popped them in fridge for awhile for extra chill. Tried both tying them around my forehead and also around my neck. Lovely and cool at first but this lasted for about 10 mins. So unless you want to carry a fridge around with you and keep changing them every 10 mins after they melt don't bother with these. You can probably get the same effect just soaking a normal bandana and popping that in fridge. Shame cause I was really looking forward to these ,being a lady of a certain age! 1 star for swift delivery.

I needed something to help with the hot flushes we "ladies of a certain age" get from time to time, as the flushes were coming faster and hotter than ever before I was in dire need of help at work.I work in retail and also wear a uniform so I needed something easy to wear and was tastefully unobvious, these scarves fit the bill perfectly, and there was also one that complemented the uniform, I found that the scarf worked wonderfully!I was so impressed that I recommended them to my colleagues, at last count there were three colleagues looking to order some for themselves. I really do lurve these scarves, I take one with me everywhere I go, it fits easily into my bag or pocket and the flush soon dissipates when scarf is placed around the neck.

Having tried something similar to this several years ago, I decided to give these a try. While they work really well for the first minute or so, they dry up (& hence warm up) much quicker than ones I’ve purchased in the past. I was quite disappointed to be honest, as I struggle to cope when the weather gets warm. To be frank, wrapping a wet flannel over the back of your neck is more effective and long lasting.

I left the scarf to soak for about 20 minutes and it is still cool 24 hours later. It could probably do with another soak now though. The beads do like to bunch at the front as they shrink, but they are easy to redistribute. I am very pleased with this purchase

Arrived quickly, did exactly what they were supposed to do and the gel lasted for a long time. but actually in the heat the feeling of coolness didn't last as long as I'd hoped so on another occasion I might try a different way of staying cool
