Super fun activity to do with your kids!
This activity kit was so much fun. I got it to do with my 6 yr old son and his older brothers (17 and 21) came out and were so jealous they had to jump in and do one or two of their own too! The planets are made of what feels like chalk or a chalk type material. They are alot easier to excavate than some of the kits we have done. also if you use water it makes it a bit easier. Each planet had at least 2 gem stones in it, except the sun had a large glass ball with a solar system engraved on the inside, like laser etched. And in one of the planets we got 2 larger stones and about 5 tiny ones. We had so much fun excavating these. I want to buy more kits like this to do. It was a bit messy but we kept most of the mess inside a shallow dish , by the end of it even i was basically playing in the mud type material that is left from the water and the shards of planets mixing together. A little bit messy so dont wear sunday clothes but worth it. You also get a necklace to make with one or two of your gems and a little light display disc you can set a stone on to light up from underneath. I was really impressed with this kit. The tools that come with it are also pretty decent. it has a little hammer that was actually weighted inside, also a small pick and a brush, and then on the back end of the hammer was a little knife type piece. They were very effective in getting into the planets. Overall this kit was really cool, Price was reasonable and the quality was great

Fun Dig Kit!
I ordered the solar system set for my 11 year old grand daughter because she is really in to rocks and gem stones. She also has had a couple of these dig kits in the past and enjoyed them. The kit arrived quickly and without damage. The kit comes with 10 planets with gemstones in each, digging tools, necklace and light up solar system. It is a really nice kit for the price. My grand daughter enjoyed digging out the gemstones but it was very messy and probably should be done outside next time. The digging tools that come with the kit are not the best. They are flimsy plastic and we actually ended up using a screw driver and small hammer instead. The light up solar system is a lot smaller than the pictures made it seem, but it is a cute addition to the set. I would definitely recommend for an afternoon of fun with the kids.

Treasure hunt
This kit is like going on a treasure hunt right in your own home! It comes with everything you need to uncover and collect your very own gemstones. The excitement of chipping away at the block to reveal the hidden treasures inside is truly exhilarating. It's a great activity for both kids and adults, providing a sense of adventure and discovery. Plus, it's a fantastic way to learn about different types of gemstones and geology. The kit usually includes a variety of gemstones like amethyst, quartz, or even fossils. So get ready to unleash your inner archaeologist and have a blast uncovering these beautiful gems! Happy digging!

Pricey for the rocks you get
I think this product is a good gift for kids who are getting interested in rocks and would keep them busy for a few days, but I do have a few issues with it. Firstly the price isn't justifiable for the rocks you receive considering most of them are tiny and questionable about whether they are what they say they are. Some are obviously dyed or glass. Secondly you get a rock called a Desert Rose in it which is water soluble, and according to the instructions you are supposed to soak the planets in water to make them easier to dig through. Lastly the booklet it came with that is supposed to say the name of every rock is super confusing to an adult, so I think a kid would have even more trouble navigating it. I still loved many of the rocks it came with suck as blue tiger's eye, fluorite, and pyrite (fool's gold).

Cool gift for a space-obsessed 7-10-year old
My daughter (9) and her brother (7) thought this was the best birthday gift. They fell upon the solar system like the avid miners they are, chipping away to find their treasures. It took them many hours to excavate the stones, and I will say, they were a bit frustrated at the slowness of the process at one point, but I did remind them that if it were easy, it would be no fun.HOWEVER, be aware that the little "educational" pamphlet included in the set (which describes the planets and the stones inside) is full of inaccuracies and quite badly written. I'd advise you to use the pictures only, and maybe cut out the words...
