Worth Every Penny: Café-Quality Coffee at the Touch of a Button
After several weeks of daily use, I can say this is one of the best kitchen purchases I’ve made. I considered a traditional semi-automatic espresso machine, but I wanted café-quality drinks without turning every cup into a project. The Eletta Explore has been exactly that. The espresso is consistently rich with beautiful crema, and the customization options let me dial in drinks exactly how I like them. The milk system has been the biggest surprise. Cappuccinos, latte macchiatos, and other milk drinks come out with thick, creamy foam that looks and tastes like something from a coffee shop. The automatic cleaning cycle also makes cleanup much easier than I expected. What I appreciate most is the flexibility. If you just want great coffee, press a button. If you’re a coffee enthusiast, there are plenty of ways to personalize drink size, coffee strength, milk quantity, and other settings until they’re perfect. I’ve found myself making far more espresso drinks simply because the machine makes it so enjoyable. The build quality feels premium, the touchscreen is intuitive, and daily maintenance has been minimal thanks to the automatic rinse cycles and reminders. My only advice to new owners is not to judge it by the factory settings. Spend a little time customizing your favorite drinks. Once dialed in, the results are outstanding. If you’re looking for a fully automatic espresso machine that consistently produces café-quality drinks with very little effort, I highly recommend the De’Longhi Eletta Explore. I would absolutely buy it again. I think this sounds like a genuine owner rather than an advertisement. It also avoids mentioning Bean Adapt until you’ve actually had a chance to use it.

Delicious coffee, exactly how you like it
This coffee machine does it all, and then some. It makes delicious espresso with very little adjustment. It makes virtually foolproof drinks any way you could possibly want them. And it’s not super loud. It has some features that are incredible, and some extra features that seem superfluous. But I will tell you, I’ve had a few espresso machines over the years and this one is the best so far. Favorite Features: - Hot and cold milk drinks. There are two milk carafes that do take up fridge space, but they earn it. My favorite is the flat white. But the cold brew latte is a fantastic summer drink. The versatility is incredible. - To-go Mode: The grill at the bottom flips up so there’s room for a to-go cup, and the machine will make a larger version of the drink so you don’t have a tiny sad coffee in your huge to-go cup. It’s great. - Profiles and personalization: comes with up to four user profiles. For each drink, an individual user can choose to customize the amount of espresso and milk involved; basically, the machine makes the drink for you, and you push the “stop” button during each step when the desired amount of an ingredient has been dispensed. I like more milk in my flat white than my husband does. That’s not a problem. With the push of a button, we both have our individually-tailored perfect drink. - Some of the app features are really great, especially the bean flavor profile— super helpful when you’re first getting the machine dialed in. Is your espresso coming out too sour? Tell the app what kind of beans you’re using, and it walks you through the settings to change in order to get the right flavor out of your coffee. I was really surprised how well this worked. - Vast Variety: I have never wanted a coffee drink this thing can’t make. The list is ridiculously long! It’s fun to try new things. It even dispenses hot water for tea. Our Notes: - The “make a coffee remotely” option in the app makes zero sense because the machine does a cleaning cycle the moment you turn it on. Don’t use it. You’ll just end up with a watered-down drink. - You’ll want to use the included water test strip and adjust the coffee machine settings for your water as you’re first setting it up. Otherwise, it will assume the worst and prompt you to descale more often than you actually need to. - It self-cleans a lot, which is a good thing for flavor, but does go through a bit of water and want to be refilled after several drinks. It’s a little intimidating to set everything up at first, but the machine and app walk you through it. Overall, this thing gets daily use in our house and has made us hundreds of cups of coffee without breaking a sweat. It’s a sleek machine that fits well on our coffee bar. And it makes a wide variety of dang good coffee. We love our fancy robot barista!

The best coffee we've ever had... and it's from our own kitchen
After almost a year with the De'Longhi Eletta Explore, we've reached the point where coffee anywhere else is a letdown. That's not an exaggeration. Road trips, hotel lobbies, even decent cafes... nothing really compares anymore to what this machine produces at home. The built-in grinder is a big part of that. Fresh-ground beans make a noticeable difference, and it handles them consistently every time. The milk frother is equally impressive... whether you want a latte, a cappuccino, or just a bit of foam on top, it delivers. And the cold brew capability is a nice bonus for warmer months. One thing that surprised us is how well it performs when we're in a hurry. It pulls a great shot straight into a to-go thermos, which has become part of our morning routine more often than we expected. The machine is on the pricier side, no question, but after living with it daily for nearly a year, it's hard to argue with the results. If you're on the fence about the price, just know that for us, it completely changed what we expect from a cup of coffee.

Cold Milk Drinks!!!! UGH!!!!!!
I purchased this machine back in January and wanted to give some time before writing this review. I will start out by saying overall, this is a great machine. Many hot and cold drink choices. Very easy to use. The display guides you along and provides instructions on what to do next and how to do it. Very cool! The only draw back that I have experienced is milk drink serving temperature. I feel that this is a major issue with this unit. I followed the instructions as noted for a flat white and the serving temperature as measured by a calibrated digital thermometer is 125F where coffee serving temperature using the same thermometer is measured at 157F. I called DeLonghi customer service and had several discussions about this issue. I followed their instructions which included preheating the cup and also sent a video of making a flat white. They finally agreed to replace the unit. Welll………The new unit arrived and had the exact same issue!!! Flat white with medium foam (as recommended by DeLonghi) serving temperature measured at 125F I’m frustrated that I spent a lot of money on a “state of the art” expresso machine and still have to microwave my flat white after it is done brewing. My honest feeling is that DeLonghi knows about this issue and simply does not want to address it as you can see other reviews that also list cold milk drink serving temps. I hope this review helps you in making a decision to purchase or not purchase this unit. If you buy it and like milk drinks, make sure your microwave works!

LOVE
This coffee maker is incredibly easy to use and worth every penny. No more standing in line, waiting for an eternity, and never knowing what I want! The cold and hot features are perfect, and the taste is fantastic. It’s also quieter than the older version, and it even self-cleans! The only downside is that I have to empty the tray often because it self-cleans, but that’s a small price to pay for such a great coffee maker.

Great little machine, but replacement pieces should be easier if there’s an accident.
Haven’t gotten to try all the features yet but so far so good! Drinks turn out great as far as I can tell though i can’t say I have a lot to compare it to. Water lasts a few days in our house and the machine is easy to clear and refill as necessary. The only complaint I have is that I dropped the cold milk carafe and while the frothing mechanism was completely fine the part that holds the milk shattered and there is no easy way to replace it. Had to purchase an entire new apparatus (milk frother included) for $80 when it should have been less than $10 fora new plastic container without the frother. Replacement parts should be easier to obtain.

Excellent machine
Received and found it easy to assemble (few minutes, mostly unpacking.) So far I've tried about half of the hot menu items (none of the cold brew yet.) Dialing in the coffee beans went smoothly, the machine has a menu item that walks you through the process. Makes excellent espresso with good crema. User selectable milk dispenser from plain hot milk to extremely fine foam. Can also make hot tea and hot chocolate. (I've also made café Mocha's and salted caramel mocha.) Cleaning us very easy. You can easily dump the puck basket and the water collection tray dumped. The water container pulls out from the front and fills easy. The infuser assembly is located after removing the water container and is easily cleaned under running water. The machine fits comfortably under our overhead cabinets, but must be pulled out to refill the bean storage receptacle. I'm very satisfied with this machine and find it easy and convenient to use. (My previous machines include an Italian La Pavoni espresso machine and a semiautomatic Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine.)

DeLonghi's Eletta Explore is a winner!
With my first use, I was initially unhappy with the perceived somewhat less-than-hot milk temperature in my Latte Macchiato. I mean, I was getting to the VERY unhappy stage when I made the second, same result. THEN I read some of the reviews, one more time, and tried the "heating the cup" (thank you!) cup before launching into the drink. I put it in the microwave for 2.5 minutes while I was also busy getting my wife's Keurig machine ready. Then I went back to my own latte macchiato prep with the preheated cup. No more unhappy; it was fine for me. Additionally, I checked on what the temps for the milk-based drinks should reflect, and there are warnings about making the milk too hot (curdling). In the end, I guess, it's really up to the individual. This individual is happy with the many drinks I've made in the relatively short time I've had this machine. And, speaking of the DeLonghi Eletta Explore: I love the thought that went into this machine. The selection of drinks, cold/hot... milk/otherwise, is, to me, very impressive. Just this one person's thoughts, folks. Five stars ... :-) UPDATE: A year later: If this machine were human, I'd marry it!!! I L O V E my Eletta Explore Espresso Machine!!! I clean the Milk Frother after each use, and religiously descale when the notice comes up to do it. Never a problem. I love the Milk Frother to brew my "world famous" lattes each morning (2) and have the full collection of Torino Sugar Free Syrups (spelling? early in the morning). I said this machine was a WINNER when I first received it a year ago ... IT'S A WINNER!

Absolutely Amazing Machine!!!
This is the most amazing and highly advance coffee machine I’ve ever purchased. That being said, I do not regret the amount of money I spent to get this machine. I am a huge coffee lover and this thing produces by far the best tasting coffee I’ve had at home ever. My favourite coffee bean so far that I have found is 49th Parallel Old School Espresso and this machine grinds and brews a cup perfectly. I’m not a person that’s big on all the specialty coffees that this machine makes but since I bought it I have started using and exploring all the other specialty drinks this machine makes and to my surprise they’re all shockingly good. The amount of settings that it has to fully personalize your drink to your liking is amazing. If you download the app you can connect to your coffee machine and brew a coffee right from the touch of a button on your phone. This machine is truly a masterpiece!

Just wow!
Best coffee machine ever. Brought this to replace our Nespresso (which I love btw). 4 different profiles.can be set. App available to tweek the amount of coffee vs milk. Cold and hot brews. Looks great. So easy to clean: most of the accessories go in the dishwasher. Love this machine. Bought an extra milk container for the vegetarians in the family wanting plant milk. That took a while to get here as it was out of stock with the company at the time. Highly recommended doing that to have a clean milk container while you're washing the other but not necessary if you do dishes more often than I do.

Do not buy this machine - or any De'Longhi product
De'Longhi is the worst company to deal with. Our unit was defective the day we received it and here were are two years later with a broken crap machine. The milk function never worked, and I sent it back via the warranty - which by the way was imposible to deal with. The issue was never fixed. We have had to have our unit repaired multiple times at our own cost for other issue and now it simply does not work. De'Longhi is know for its difficult customer service, faulty machines, and refusal to take responsibility for it's machine's.
