Best comb I've ever had
I just got the purple heart wood, moon shaped ox horn comb and with no doubt, it is the best comb I have ever had. First, I love purple heart wood. So pretty. The moon shape fits nicely in the hand and is perfect for a comb. I think it's the ox horn that makes it so great, though. Glides smoothly through long, thick hair. I agree with the reviewer who cautioned to be careful about dropping it. The horn part would probably break if you have a hard floor. It comes in a nice little satin-cloth lined gift box! This would be the perfect gift for all female friends and family. I know I'm going to order more.

Beautiful comb for a beautiful beard!
My dear husband has recently been growing out a rather magnificent beard. It has gotten to the point that the black plastic pocket comb was no longer up to the job. I bought him this comb (and a few other things) to help tame the beast. He uses it with beard balm or oil right out of the shower and for touch ups throughout the day. It glides through easily and best of all, no static! The comb is very attractive and seems well made, I may invest in a wide tooth version for my own waist length hair. Definitely worth paying a little more for a quality, handmade comb that is made of all natural materials :)

Arrived Broken
after reading several reviews about the comb arriving broken, I decided to go ahead and take a chance...which turned out to be wrong! Mine too arrived broken in two places, and was unusable. I realize that with the nature of the materials there'll be imperfections, but with two significant cracks along the seam(where wood/horn) meet, it was just too much...couldn't even work around the, because my hair would get caught in them and be pulled out. 2 stars only because it was a pretty comb. Returned it the same day it arrived.

Upgrade your hair care!
Nice quality horn comb that is the perfect size for travel. I've had mine for almost two months now, no broken teeth as some reviews might mention. I traveled over a month with just a backpack with this and no damage- however I did carry the comb in an old eyeglass case. The wood is aesthetically pleasing, a rich tone. The comb feels nice in my hand, ergonomically comfortable. Ditch the plastic combs curly hair people, upgrade to ox horn and wood!

Impressed with the quality
Very nice, high quality comb. I was a bit skeptical when I ordered it, but I would definitely order again. I have very thick hair and I'm growing it back out. I'm the type who does not use sulfates or heat or anything like that. This is a smooth comb and my hair loves it. I just have to comb slowly because it's much finer than the wide tooth combs I'm used to. Also, this type of wood doesn't seem to dry out like some of the other wooden combs I've had, so I don't even bother to oil it and it's beautiful and nice on my hair.

Works great on my 7+ months beard!
Plastic combs were tearing my face up, so I gave this a try. The package arrived quickly, and I liked the packaging the comb came in. Very nice presentation. The comb:- It smells awesome. Like the beach on a dry summer night. I want to bottle that smell up and keep it forever.- Static-free. This is a huge plus for my beard. It makes styling it nice and easy.- I got the whale shape. It's unique and helps my hand grip it well.I've heard some say horn combs break easily, but it's holding up perfectly so far. Even if it did break, I'd immediately buy another.

A masculine yet elegent personal item. Shockingly inexpensive for such materials and high quality.
As a film & television actor my hairstyle can either place me in certain roles or I will be required to have a certain hairstyle for a role. For several years I kept my hair very short, almost a crew cut but not quite, and this caused me to get cast as a detective, FBI Agent, and the like. And so it was when the folks casting for Boardwalk Empire called me they asked if my hair was still as short as it is in my headshot. I took that headshot myself only a couple of weeks earlier, so the answer was yes, and I was cast as a 1930s police officer. But they did want me to grow the top out to fit the style of the period. In the meantime and since, this new hairstyle turned out to be a fit for several other period roles ranging from the late 1800s to the 1950s. From this point on I haven't paid for a single haircut because the hair folks on various sets determine for me how they want it--and they want it long on top.As I grew the top of my hair out, I rediscovered the fact that I actually have beautiful hair. I had kept it short because it was easier to maintain and good for sports that way, but now I'm keeping it longer on top because this has become my 'type,' and my type gets me more work--besides which I have come to prefer it this way.For years I had been using my hand as a comb and brush, but seeing how the hair professionals set it for various roles I realized that I needed a proper comb or brush. So I went to my local CVS and looked at combs and brushes. There is an amazing variety of these things ranging from very basic and cheap to handmade combs and brushes made of quality materials. I was surprised to find that I couldn't find one that I really trusted to not be a waste of money, and being culturally Japanese to a great degree I had this natural desire for a wood comb.Searching on Amazon I found plastic combs which were handmade in England, and they seemed to be top of the line, but I really didn't want plastic, so I changed my search to specify wood. But wood seemed for the most part to be just a novelty. A lot of the wood combs are ornamental, and I didn't want that. The more I looked, the more specific and picky I got, because as I searched I learned about features I hadn't thought of before--like static free, fine tooth versus wide, and the various shapes of combs that were available. In Japan the only things I had ever put so much thought into purchasing were special chopsticks and personal folding fans. Like chopsticks and folding fans, I wanted a quality item that was also masculine yet elegant. When I saw this one, it was love at first site. Sandlewood and buffalo horn? Really?! Even the color and shape said masculine yet elegant. How did they make such a beautiful, quality comb, out of these materials, handmade for only as much as a quality plastic comb would cost?I chose the design that appealed to me most--the whale shape--and still doubting I was going to actually get something as nice as described, I ordered it.I didn't order next day delivery, but it arrived the next morning via free shipping. Couldn't have been more pleased with my purchase. It's better than I could have possibly expected. It even comes in a nice looking box.Good, solid construction. No worries about keeping it in my pocket, though I don't anyway.Wider than my hand, so certainly big enough, though small enough that it wont stick out or be uncomfortable in your pocket. And it only cost me about $16. If you had described and shown this to me and asked how much I would expect it cost, I would have guessed that $30 would be a steal, but expect to pay at least $40 for it. At this price, why would you buy a plastic comb?Next show I did, I brought it with me. I was actually showing it off to the other male actors, and they all agreed it was rather neat. Then, and since, I went through the actor routine of visiting Wardrobe, Make-up, and of course Hair. The hair folks would typically at least brush my hair and put some kind of glue like stuff in it, then finish off with hairspray. Instead I was told it looks good as is, and asked what styling product I was using, to which I answered, "Nothing. I just combed it."The hair professionals on set still style my hair to fit certain roles of course, but a lot less and less often than they did before, and that means less often having to wash out difficult to remove styling products which sometimes actually requires I use dish soap (for petroleum based styling gels and waxes).Bottom Line: It's shocking that I can get a handmade comb that is this nice, made out of these materials, for this price. I already know what several members of my family are getting for the holidays this year.

Wouldn't have thought I would like a comb this well
Wouldn't have thought I would like a comb this well, but I do. This is a man's comb, suitable for use on hair or beard. It's actually curved to fit the curve of your head making it very comfortable to use. The wooden handle is a nice touch but it also provided an area for a more substantial grip when using the comb. Comb doesn't slip out of your hand when wet like the plastic combs do. I would definitely recommend this to others.
