You don't have to be an Aristocrat to lounge in luxury--all you need is this opera slipper from L.B. Evans. It's full-grain leather construction features leather linings and a soft leather outsole. The full-length cushioned insole delivers soft, lasting comfort. In 1804, T. & A. Evans (Thomas and Amos) were running a small shoe business connected with a general store in the town of South Reading. There was no shoe factory as we know it today, just a small shop where Thomas and Amos cut the leather for their shoes. The actual shoe making was farmed out among the people of the town, while Thomas and Amos supplied them with uppers, soles, counters and heels to be assembled into shoes. All shoes were sewed by hand whenever the shoemaker-farmers could spare the time. Today L.B. Evans is owned and operated as a division of Daniel Green Enterprises. Many of the traditional gentleman's slipper styles are still part of the line, but the business has grown to include new updated classics, premium products including elk and deer, and an array or rugged, warm outdoor styles. Daniel Green Enterprises remains committed to the quality and comfort guarantee that the Evans brothers established over 200 years ago.

So Comfy and Stylish
These are the 3rd time I have purchased these slippers...only because they are terrific! My husband wears them every day, and they last for years. They are made of soft leather and light weight. They are also smart- looking, the opposite of looking like slippers. It is advised NOT to wear them outdoors, but he walks down to the mail box in them every day, and also waters a few flowers. They seem none the worse for wear. Black is gorgeous and goes well with everything.

Great slippers and AWESOME chew toys!
This is my second pair of these slippers. The first pair, which I wore in the house everyday, made an AWESOME chew toy for my "puppies" (they're 6 months old and already 42 lbs.). I made the mistake of putting them on the back of the sofa, and went to bed forgetting I had left them there. In the morning I found them shredded on the living room floor. Now, a word to the quality of these slippers; though the insides were torn out and decimated, the outer leathers were fully intact!! Let's call this "accelerated life testing"; if they stood up to this kind of abuse, I'm sure they would last many years. I love them (slippers and dogs) so I'm ordering a second pair. BTW, yes, they run small and a bit narrow, but they are all leather and will spread a bit to fit comfortably. Once you get the size right, you will love these slippers. Also, I saw the review about the leather dye coming off; this is unfortunate for that buyer, but I've worn mine outside after a rain fetching the mail and have not had any issues like this.EDIT: Be very, VERY careful who you "order" these from; the first pair I ordered was fulfilled by "Brookstone". They were too big so I'm sending them back. I ordered a second pair a half-size smaller and they are being fulfilled by Amazon directly. Let me tell you, the return policy for Brookstone is MUCH DIFFERENT than the one from Amazon and NOT for the positive. Had I realized this while ordering I would not have ordered from Brookstone. Buyer beware...

Most comfortable slipper ever
Love these slippers. They are a bit tight but I think that is because they are leather and need to be broke in.I have worn my old ones so much that the heels are worn out. I would recommend the purchase of these slippers if you want to feel like you are on cloud 9. Thank you for a fast delivery.

Good quality slipper
The narrow slipper is a bit tight but will probably loosen with wear. Other than narrow would be too wide for me. This slipper seems to be a little smaller than the same size i purchased a few years ago.

Run much smaller than the same model in black
My husband has worn L.B. Evans Men's, Aristocrat Opera Slippers in black for many years. As a result, I've purchased new pairs for him every few years and the sizing (he wears a 13M) has been consistent. It appears these slippers may be discontinued, and I couldn't find his size most of the places I looked in black, so I ordered these brown ones. I ignored some of the comments about them running small because we'd ordered this model in this size without trouble for over a decade.I should have listened. These were so much smaller than a true 13M that my husband could only get one of them on at all and it found even that one terribly tight. So tight, that we gave up any thought of trying to stretch them and sent them back.Subsequently, I researched like crazy and found a single, stand-alone store in New York that still had one pair in black still in stock. Bought them, had them shipped...and they fit like a charm. The moral of the story is: if you've been wearing these in black and decide to try brown...review the reviews before you buy.

Best Slippers I have owned
This pair is to replace a pair of identical slippers that I have owned for more than 20 years. The quality is exactly the same as my old pair. They do tend to run slightly smaller then you may be used to so be a little careful. Great slippers.

A total rip-off. Not recomended.
I was a little hesitant to buy these due to the very mixed reviews. Still, I took a chance. And now I regret it.The leather is pretty good quality. The construction is absolutely terrible. I've had these less than a week, worn only indoors, and already they are coming apart. Seriously, for $20 I could have purchased better slippers at Walmart or in chinatown. Sure, they'd be plastic, or inferior quality leather, but at least I'd be getting my money's worth. As the product description states, these used to be made under the Daniel Green name. I owned a pair of Daniel Green slippers prior to this and I loved them dearly. They lasted me nearly ten years before they started to give out and even then I kept wearing them because they were so comfortable and well made. These L.B. Evans might look like them at first glance, but they are not nearly as comfortable and are sure to self-destruct sooner than later. I honestly regret my purchase.
