Lopez, after a long absence from the big screen, is a pleasure to watch--an accomplished (and underrated) comedian who can spar and spark with the best of her peers, and better than most. Lopez's chemistry with the dreamy O'Loughlin will engage viewers completely. Lopez plays Zoe, a smart woman whose dating life has been dismal--and who finally decides to become a single mum so she can achieve at least the motherhood she's always desired. As fate would have it, she meets Mr. Perfect (or Mr. Close To It), O'Loughlin's Stan, on the very day she visits the fertility clinic and becomes pregnant with twins. The early stages of their courtship involve Zoe's increasingly desperate measures to conceal her growing belly. By the time she confesses her condition, Stan is smitten--but with hormones on both sides roiling, and reality about to set in as the birth approaches, both Zoe and Stan get cold feet. If the plot of The Back-up Plan is a bit predictable, the flinty performances of both Lopez and O'Loughlin keep the viewer utterly engaged. Supporting actors Eric Christian Olsen, as Zoe's best guy pal, and the lovely and hilarious Michaela Watkins (The New Adventures of Old Christine) turn in terrific performances, too, and cameos by veterans including Albert Klein (as Zoe's hyperenthusiastic doctor), Tom Bosley, and Linda Lavin round out the excellent acting ensemble. The Back-up Plan also features an engaging soundtrack with a danceable tune by Lopez, "What Is Love?" and memorable songs by Colbie Caillat, India Arie, and more. The Back-up Plan shows that love may not always go according to plan--OK, it never does--but it's worth the ride, however the heart ultimately gets there. --A.T. Love it!!
I love the backup plan, i watched it once when it was on sky and loved it then. I know that this film has had some bed reviews especially about the awkwardness of it, but personally i think that gives it its charm. J-Lo i think in this is funny and entertaining and really portrays her character well. Alex O'Loughlin (Stan) is very nice, i first came across him in the hit tv show HAWAII 5-0 (something else i recommend highly) and in this he played it well, its clear that the characters have a connection and the fact that he's a bit of a dick makes it funny and entertaining, definitely NOT a waste of money.

Great movie
I wasn't sure about this film, I like Jennifer Lopez but didn't really know much about Alex O'Loughlin then I saw him in the updated Hawaii Five-O and was hooked. It is one of the best films I have watched in ages I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Besides telling a story it was so funny I laughed most of the way through. Both actors did a great job and it was nice to watch a great film without the usual profanity, I hope they make a Back-Up Plan II really soon. I highly recommend.

I bought the movie to watch after seeing it starred Alex O'Loughlin, being a favourite from my latest craze Hawaii Five-O. It's a really lovely film with a bit of a comedic side but definitely a chick flick. One I'll definitely watch again!!

WOW
I love this film. Big fan of Jennifer and even bigger fan of Alex. It is funny, romantic and sad but always manages to cheer me up when feeling a bit down. Love the film. Well worth the money.

Funny
Comedy timing great between two people. Jennifer Lopez is very experience in this genre but Alex is very good. Scenes between them are quite hilarious. Thoroughly enjoyed the film.

Not Good Unfortunately
It has been a real struggle for me to write a review about this movie. It's the first time that I have bought a DVD without seeing the film first and I wish I hadn't. I like 'good' rom coms but this does not, unfortunately, fall into that category. The storyline is ridiculously far fetched and the script is worse in that it seriously insults the act of giving birth in one truly awful scene. Jlo's acting talent - so ably displayed in "Maid in Manhattan" is absent here and Alex O'Loughlin appears to be using his considerable talent to carry her for most of the movie. The three stars are for the excellent photography, locations and for the three scenes which are worth watching.

Back up Plan
Like Alex O and JL ,different story to any other she can't find boyfriend but wants a baby so goes to sperm bank and gets pregnant then meets Alex O who falls for her once he finds out about pregnancy and the shock he stands by her.She has commitment fears and sends him away ,the one baby is now twins he stays away until she comes and wants him back all ends predictably with happy twist ending areal feel good film.

Good purchase
Came in a few days of ordering, good good for the price, good quality disk & case and the film was a very good film, it will surely be staying on my film shelf

The fact that it doesn’t work and most Americans DVD players the only give you a partial refund no this fact should be no before you purchased it
