Oxford Dictionary of Musical Terms (Oxford Quick Reference)

This book actually does what it says, it has musical terms in alphabetical order and it is very handy for looking up the precise meaning of any notation you may come across in musical scores.

This is such an interesting and useful book, I have learnt a great deal more about classical music since purchasing it.

This book is roughly A5 sized (see my photo) and is 203 sides crammed with musical terms. It's a great book to dip into whenever some new musical term comes across my path. I'm a beginner pianist so it happens quite often. Sometimes it may be more convenient to google a term, but a lot of the time I find it easier to pick up this book form the shelf by my keyboard. Quite often I find myself going on to read the next term as well as the one I was after!The explanations of each term are easy to understand. It's a well-written dictionary. It has some figures to illustrate points, although these can sometimes be too small to read. The font is also just about big enough, but I'd have preferred it to be slightly larger.In conclusion, I'd definitely buy this dictionary again. I hope this review has helped you in your buying decision.

I have just finished studying music at A level and will be continuing it at university, this book is great to look up unfamiliar terms simply and easily. I would recommend this book to anyone studying or interested in music.
