This pan can be used as a saute pan as well as a fry skillet. It can also serve duty for paella from start to finish. As usual with stainless steel surfaces, make sure the pan is heated before adding oil, then add food a bit later. The pan seems to convey heat evenly despite being only 3 ply. This is a big pan! The opposing handles are a good feature given the size and weight, but it is still a bit ungainly during cleanup. Let the pan soak in hot water and dish soap immediately after removing food, and the cleanup will be much easier. The tall sides are the best feature, as they inhibit oil/food splatter out of the pan. My only complaint is the cooking surface will not stay bright and shiny, but I suspect that may be the case with other more expensive stainless steel saute pans.

I bought this pan for larger meals for our friends and family. This pan is legit! Great at making étouffée for 8 people! My 5 quart Dutch Oven did a decent job but needed a little larger diameter pan. This pan has high sides which is great for pan frying and holds a ton. I was looking at some much more expensive pans and settled on this one. I have a 3 quart Made In version of this which is great but it cost quite a bit more and is half the size.

I really like the size and is beautiful but after first use looks like this? What happened?

This pan is exactly what I hoped it would be. The weight is good; the cover fits perfectly and it is deep. This pan will be perfect for frying chicken, making jambalya or combining pasta with sauce. I also thought the price of this flat-sided pan was very reasonable as compared to the same type of frying pan.
