This item works exactly as described. I needed it to hook up an older surround system to a newer TV that only had "optical out" as a sound option. This product does not come with the cube needed for the USB power cord, but to be fair, no product does anymore lol. Easy setup, simple connectivity using the provided optical cable, and connect the power cord. The sound quality is great as well. 5 out of 5.

I just purchased a new LG 27" TV to replace our ancient Samsung 24" that we have had for many years in our kitchen, but unfortunately the new TV only has an optical output for audio and the Bose Companion speakers we have been using for the Samsung only has RCA jacks and cable to connect to a TV. The Optical to RCA Converter worked beautifully, as after connecting all per instructions, the sound from the Bose Companion speakers was wonderful compared to the tinny sound coming from the new TV with its cheap tiny speakers. One item to note that I was not aware of when I purchased the converter is that it requires a 5 volt 1 amp power source via the supplied USB cable. Fortunately, I was able to just use a spare Apple cube charger, which incidentally has a 5 volt 1 amp output. Should you not have one, you may wish to purchase, as the converter will not work without a power source. Other than that, it was plug and play. It also appears that the converter is of very good quality and not a cheap throwaway. I highly recommend it if you should be in a situation such as mine.

I have a Bose Lifestyle 48 entertainment system. The tv I had I had my system hooked up to my old television, it stop working so I had to buy another tv. I bought a HDTY, my Bose Lifestyle system not working with the television. So I tried this optical to RCA AUDIO CONVERTER AND IT WORKED. I tried all kinds of connections but they didn’t work until I bought this.it took me less than 5 minutes to hook it up andit was exactly what I needed.that’s why I give it 5 stars. I recommend it.

This item worked perfectly connecting my new Samsung TV To my older Sony receiver. Really enjoying the surround sound with my new TV. Would definitely recommend.

I installed this device on my PC to utilize the photo optics port to see if it would aide the Fidelity to my subwoofer and speakers. Worked fine for the first three days, then developed a feedback at a constant level and constant timing. That was very annoying. Had to take it out and put the normal RCA back in very disappointed instead of helping my sound quality and my signal quality it added to the noise do not I repeat do not utilize this product
