Will this work on radiator hose ?

Yes. That is actually what it is made for. It replaces any size hose clamp. But, I've found lots of other uses for it.

are the tools with the wing nut harder to use than the t-handle type?

Yes. I use a pair of lineman pliers to get enough torque to cinch the wire. It takes some practice to get the wire aligned and retain the final path of wire.

What does the tighting part, on the top of the tool, actually look like? The tool in the photo differs from the photo on the packaging.

The tignting part is the one on the actual tool not what is on the instructions. The one shown on the instruction is the stainless steel version.Thanks for your interest.Vince
