An Introduction to Human Services

The Human Services history.
I really enjoyed the book. It almost covers all Human Services topics. The style used is simple. The authors are intellectually knowledgeable: They did astronomical research to give the Human Services workers and those who want to pursue an Human Services career an awesome tool. I will strongly recommend to everyone whom Human Services is field of predilection.

It is set up in easily outlined chapters
This is a required textbook for my class. It is set up in easily outlined chapters. Easy to read, easy to learn the material.COURSE MATE PROS: The online code is worth it. Online gives you an eBook, that can be highlighted, or copied onto note cards. (for online study) There's an online audio version if you want to listen on the way to class. The COURSE MATE DRAWBACK; Avoid the crosswords puzzles! They randomly put a blank square at the end of the word, and empty spaces between words, if it is a two or three word answer. Do the number of squares in no way equals the number of letters in the word! Sometimes intersecting words will cross at a blank square too.

You would think it would be a no-brainer in the Human Services field to write in an easily readable fashion
I gather that this is seen by some as the definitive textbook for Human Services. If so, someone needs to write a new book, or do a *serious* reorganization job on this one. While the information in this book is certainly interesting, and well worth reading about for people going into the field, the book is atrociously organized, avoids plain language,, and contradicts itself regularly. One major complaint about the book is that it takes a number of terms from the Human Services field which are (I think) probably already somewhat ill-defined, and further muddies up their meanings, the opposite of what an introductory textbook should do. If you are a casual reader, this wouldn't matter so much, but as student being tested on the material, it actually makes the book a real headache. The other big complaint I have is that it is written in a pointlessly verbose, somewhat scholarly tone. You would think it would be a no-brainer in the Human Services field to write in an easily readable fashion, with basic, understandable methods of organization. This book actually does the opposite, in some chapters it is hard to even perceive what basic organizational structure the authors might have originally intended.I applaud the authors for the effort, and there is some good information here, but the organization and standardization of terminology is just bizarre, and makes it a nightmare as a class textbook. I gave the book three stars because it contains some very valuable information, which might be of great benefit. However, from the point of view of a student, in my opinion the book is so disorganized that it ends up being a burden rather than a help.

Item is sort of as described. It’s in okay condition for a used book. Good rental price.
Item is sort of as described by seller. The book arrived with a long slash on the back cover. Other then that it seems to be a decent used book.

Amazing
As you said it would be used and gave me a warning about bent pages and marks, the book I had gotten was in super fantastic condition. I love it and thank you for making my college books affordable and easier to buy.
