Good value pre amp
I bought this little pre amp for my daughter so that she would be able to plug an old 80’s Sony direct drive turntable into a pair of KS Reunion active speakers.I had tried couple of other budget phono pre amps and both were too noisy to be considered usable. This one, however, works a treat. It sounds good and has virtually zero background noise or hiss.It looks quite cute as well. You will have to provide your own usb power supply though. But considering how awful and noisy the power supply’s that are usually included with these budget amps are, I would consider the ability to provide a higher quality PSU a bonus.I’ve tried and returned quite a few budget pre amps from Amazon and I feel that it’s always the PSU that lets them down.A cheap, generic, dc adapter will always spill a load of interference and buzz into the audio. And the smaller the amp, the more susceptible it can be to such interference.

It works but sounds super crunchy
Pretty cool design and decent build quality but the soind quality is awful, every sound produced is accompanied with an incredibly distracting, crunchy buzz. I was hoping to listen to my vinyl with clear quality through my headphones as to not disturb my roomates when they are asleep but this has just rnded up being a pretty costly waste of money. Do not buy this if you are expecting high definition audio quality.

Low signal from deck to your amp then you probably need a preamp
For someone who is really into their vinyl then (unless your deck has a built in one) a preamp maybe needed. It takes the low level signal from your deck and amplifies it to a line level suitable for your amp.I dont know a great deal about them but knew i needed one. This unit is switchable between MC and MM (the type of cartridge on your deck, moving coil or moving magnet) and the connections are straight forward, phono in left and right RCA and line out left and right RCA to your amp with a USB C input for power (the lead supplied but as is the norm now you need to supply the wall charger.Overall this did exactly what i needed and the sound is very good too with adjustable bass and treble controls and volume on the front panel.i am very pleased with this and recommend it.+++AAA

Works for now but not enough
I'm not a tech audio person but got this small device before I go for a standard amp.It works although for my untrained ears it is not what I'd expected. It charges via USB A/C so you need a plug like that handy. Short cable limits the placement.
