all the classic Free in one place
Buying these 5 classic albums in one package is the way to go because sometimes you want to buy the single albums and you find four of them at a good price and then one seems to be out-of-print or sold at a high price. If you want the complete Free collection I would suggest purchasing their debut Tons of Sobs. I won't go into details about all the music because you may or may not be familiar with their music but there will be some you will have heard in some form or another. A lot of times people get into Free because they discover Bad Company and want to find out where Paul Rodgers came from musically and this is it. The big difference between Free and Bad Company is Free is a little more organic and loose and relaxed whereas Bad Company is more structured and commercial, made-for-radio music. I don't think one band is necessarily better than the other, just depends on what your musical vibe is. On the albums personally I found that Tons of Sobs was a little heavier on the blues and Heartbreaker was the closest sounding to pre Bad Company. The other four Free albums had some classics but were a little more mellow and not quite as bluesy.

All 5 Albums are Ice Cream for your Ears!!!
I am extremely happy to have found this collection of FREE album's it covers all of their studio album's except for their first album " Tons of Sobs" & of course their live album. FREE always sounded like a Southern Rock band to me, & I must not be the only one to think that as the absolutely Southern Rock band " Blackfoot" did a outstanding cover of the Free song " Wishing Well". But that's not so strange most people thought C.C.R. were from the south not realizing they were actually a Band from California. I hope people don't think FREE was a one hit wonder band because of the huge success of their song " Its Alright Now"...this would rob them of the opportunity to hear some of the greatest blues Based Rock of their era!!! FREE was huge when I was a kid!!! I was bumbed out when " Heartbreaker" proved to be their last album...it didn't sound like a band on their last leg quite the opposite it sounded full of promise of more great things to come!!! How was I to know that half of Free would join up with a ex "Mott the Hoople" member & Former " King Crimson" member & come back as strong as ever as a new band called " Bad Company" & keep us Rocking for the next decade or so!!! What a joyful day reviewing these 5 Free album's I haven't heard for years & enjoying hours of fantastic music!!! Free is both historically & musically a great addition to your Rock & Roll library & this 5 album set makes it affordable & easy to add their entire studio album catalogue to your library if you purchase this set then all you have to purchase is their first album " Tons of Sobs" & " FREE LIVE". If you love great blues based rock & roll as much as I do this collection will not disappoint!!! In fact it may inspire you to search out some Free singles & rarities!!! Free were not one hit wonders they were a HUGE act in their time & all of these albums are Ice Cream for your Ears!!!! Get this set while its available at this great price!!! If you are a lover of high class , soulful, powerful blues based rock & roll you are in for hours of pleasure when you purchase this box set!!!!

Great way to get a lot of Free!
A economical way to get five Free albums, where two members of Bad Company got their start. The sound quality is excellent.

A Great Free Collection
What a great way to make this legendary group come alive. Except for the few songs that you hear all the time, buying this set has helped me relive all the cool stuff they did back in the good old days in a way that brings them back to life. 5 awesome albums - that's a lot of great music for a bargain price. Sound quality is very good and the packaging of this set is compact and convenient, without frills. It shipped quickly and arrived in great shape. a great deal on Free, even though you can't get it for free!!!

Great collection if you are a Free Fan.
The only criticism is maybe the recording quality is not that great, but there is nothing much can be done about it, since these recordings were from late sixties/early seventies or so.

Its all in your mind
Really cool vinyl replica collection here. This is the first version I've come across that is glossy like real vinyl records. Slightly more sturdy and awesome than other sets that have 5 albums.I'm only a "free" fan because a former co worker was a fanatical fan and it sort of was contagious...I suppose I'll find some kid and make him or her listen to it at high volume at my personal house parties, forming another convert. Not that there is anything wrong with that .What a nice find.

Fantastic and essential music
These '5 classic albums' collections are sometimes superb. This example being a case in point. Starting with their eponymous second album ('69) - which has one of the grooviest covers ever - and also including Fire & Water ('70), Highway ('70), At Last ('72), and Heartbreaker ('73), this set covers the glory years and the essentials. Not included are their debut, Tons of Sobs, or their Live album from '71.I've always loved the few hit tunes I knew - Alright Now (despite its use in ads!*), Wishing Well, etc - but it turns out that the bulk if their catalogue is, by and large, really great. I was pleasantly surprised by how mellow they remain. I was expecting more upbeat bombastic power rock, to be honest. And I love that they're a less is more act. It's also quite surprising to realise that they're British, so steeped are they in bluesy, American sounds. The music is stripped down, soulful, and has a very positive vibe. And all involved are top drawer musicians. Lean, with buckets of feel, this is superb stuff. Highly recommended.* And despite using it in my drum teaching for years now!

A good next step in your Free education
If you want more than a best of, this is a great package at a very good price, let down only by the relatively weak Free at Last album. As other reviewers have said there is little information on the sleeves and there are no bonus tracks and no mention of remastering. However there are no complaints about the sound with a crisp bass, and keyboards coming through cleanly where I could not remember them, but that me my old ears.I may get their first Tons of Sobs album later, but for now this package, two remastered collections and Free Live (in the bonus track version) keeps their spirit alive in this house. Shame there isn't more good live material available out there.

The Band plays on.........
Five great albums by the best British blues rock band ever. Big part of my life the last 40 odd years. Rodgers and Koss the greatest singer/guitarist partnership ever. Heartbreaker was the first album I bought in 1973 and still my favourite. At this price you can't go wrong. I saw Rodgers at the RAH recently doing all Free songs including Catch a train & Love you so. Great but you cannot beat the original band playing these.

Best buy in ages
Only gave 4 stars because the quality isn't brilliant, but then the price was very reasonable so I accept that. As for the music - I had forgotten just how good Free were. It hasn't been off the machine since it arrived 3 days ago, and I'm not fed up with it yet. How could I have forgotten?

Well worth it for the nostalgia!
Bought these to complete my collection as my vinyl versions are getting worn and I don't want them to degrade further (they are the original releases and dear to me). As far as these aging ears go, they are just perfect. Just get them!
