I love my Vegtrug
This wall hugger is my second Vegtrug. The other one is not a wallhugger. I was confused about whether or not the watering module would fit this Vegtrug and in the end I bought a watering module of a different brand. I love my Vegtrug. It’s very sturdy and at a good height for planting. I used this one for courgettes and they did very well. You can get a greenhouse cover and frame for it but I am using it without, currently for growing broccoli from seed. During the hot summer it was watered from underneath, so there was no water loss from the surface of the soil. My other Vegtrug has a frame and cover and once the tomatoes have finished, I am going to cover it and use it as a greenhouse for the winter. I am supposed to be reviewing the Wallhugger.. sorry. It hugs the wall very well. Good for a narrow space but still enough depth to grow vegetables.

Smart looking planter ideal for narrow spaces
Perfect size for the gap I had in mind but still plenty of space for the plants I have planned. Arrived in perfect condition, good fixings, easy instructions and simple to put together. Took half an hour at a leisurely pace and no issues, the instructions are clear and all holes are pre-drilled. Other people seem to have had bad luck with damage and splits, my Trug was in perfect nick. As with any lightweight wood product just go easy on the screws, I used a power drill and just went slowly to avoid over tightening and splitting.Great looking addition to the garden, very pleased, only 4 stars for VFM as they aren't cheap and fairly lightweight, that said it'll do the job and look great doing it. Might invest in a medium version next for the longer space next to this small one.

Ideal for waist height veg growing
We ordered 2 trugs and they arrived very quickly, well packaged. The instructions are very small pictures and not always clear where the screws are supposed to go - but we managed ok for 2 non DIY people. Don't think it would be easy to assemble by one person. One Trug was very well finished, the other had badly screwed together boards and one front leg (so on view) had a large hole filled with filler - we've kept as the veg needed planting! The wood is lightweight so easy to move into position before filling with compost. Two screws are very tricky to insert if done in step 6 as per diagram - we did it at step 3 on the second assembly which was much easier. Much easier if you have an electric screwdriver. Overall they look good, seem sturdy enough

Good looking but a bit flimsy. Easy to build and a good size for herbs and small vegetables.
I ordered this trug as I liked the design and I wanted something that would fit under our kitchen window. The box arrived and the first thing that struck me was how lightweight the wood is. It appears to be made from some kind of pine but it’s very very fragile. One of the slats for the shelf had torn loose in transit at one end where the screw had split the wood. I doubt it will last more than five years in the garden unless you give it a good coat of Cuprinol.Assembly was simple, the instructions are small but really you don’t need them, it goes together in about 20 minutes and you need a Phillips screwdriver and a spanner for the leg bolts.I wouldn’t use a power screwdriver to put this together as I’d expect the screws will strip through the wood.Once assembled it looks the part and is fairly sturdy. Not sure if I’d rush to buy a second one of these but we will see how this one fares through the winter. I love the design and the looks of it, but the slightly low quality feel of the materials and the damaged shelf make me question the price (£80+). Overall I’d still give it 4/5 but only because I really like the design.

I'm pleased.
OK. As usual not quite up to the perfectly fitting examples you may see on the ads, wood a bit rough around the edges in places but over all what you see it what you get, it looks exactly like the veg trug portrayed in all those lovely gardening ads just gnot quite as perfect, but hey, it's always that way. I certainly have no complaints.Assembly. First open your package to make sure nothing missing or broken, sounds obvious but you'd be surprised how many miss this step. Then just sit down and have a look at assembly instructions and take your time, remember their are two screw sizes, sizes 35 & 40 according to the instructions so use the appropriate ones. The wood is relatively soft so not hard to put the screws in though if elderly you may want to use an electric screwdriver. The it's just a matter of 1, 2, 3... IF you follow instructions.I put this up in my living room on my own while watching a certain radio program on YouTube, took about an hour. I found it easy, unless you're someone who has never seen a flat pack in your whole life. Now I have to wait for some extra soil I just ordered from amazon cos it will require more than the 50L bag I have, it may be a wall hugger but it's still surprisingly large and I look forward to my summer salads without fear of dastardly slug raids.

Very sturdy and easy to put together (with 2 people)
Easy to build although would recommend two people putting it together. Very sturdy product once built mostly due to the fact some parts were a very tight fit. Hence the two people required as one person will need to hold/push pieces together for the other to screw in. Would definitely recommend an electric screwdriver for this. Good sized product and a nice colour to the wood. The wood is also very smooth so no chance of catching splinters from it.

So far so good
So far so good. Directions were somewhat easy although pictures only so you’ll have to make sure you look closely at the small do and don’t pictures. Made me feel good that I had to drill the screws into the solid wood as opposed to everything predrilled. Came with cloth liner.

Super!

PROs: Purpose-designed and potentially VERY useful CONs: Not furniture-grade finish or-assembly
This will be a welcome addition to our small yard. If this first one works out, we may buy more of them. I just wish the product manager had spent a few more trips to the Chinese factory to get the assembly right. If IKEA furniture is engineered like a Toyota or Subaru, this is engineered like an english sports car. I didn't see the YouTube video, which might have helped with the assembly. I assemble a lot of box furniture, and didn't find the instructions as bad as some here have indicated, but the fit of some of the parts and the pre-drilling of some of the holes was off the mark. I agree that having an electric screwdriver would be good (but be gentle, it is unusually soft wood). Also, an offset screwdriver would have been helpful for tight spots. I found a C-clamp useful (use a pad between the wood and clamp, again, the wood is soft.) That said, now that it is done, the assembled product looks good and feels solid.
