My Favorite of The Series
It was a great anthology that really rewards long time readers. It's great to get a perspective on the world outside of Rumiru, how much change has happened over the series. It's also fleshed out a ton of world building and really filled in all the gaps. I also loved the fleshing out of characters we usually just see running around in the background like Mjöllmile, and seeing the great burden Rumiru puts on his people in power. But the chapter I surprisingly enjoyed the most was the perspective of Raine. I had no strong feelings about the blue or green demons, but I actually care what happens to those 2 now. It's great to see they actually have a personality underneath that maid exterior. After all this setup, I can't wait for what I assume will be the beginning of the final Arc next book!

Not a big fan of short stories.
That is about my only gripe about this book. Like usual, for a Slime book, it was silly, it was funny, and if you haven't read the other books you'll be utterly lost. Unfortunately, like I've said before, it is a short story collection, and I LOATHE those.

A lot better than I thought
Everyone complaining about the short stories made me think this would suck. But it tied in really well. The 2nd one was really good actually. It kind of felt like the spin-offs in the way that they’re official canon stories that don’t fit during the main timeline, but are part of it. The times characters went off and did things, or things were alluded to, that we didn’t get adequate information on bc it would take forever to explain. And here’s the explanation. A lot of really good gems in there of world building and character background too.

such a tedious..
I am not sure if that’s how light novel works. But I didn’t read even one page completely. I see this as unnecessary explanation for character. Wast of a chapter. My opinion!!

It's a filler, but quite enjoyable still.
We all knew what this volume was going to be like from the ratings but it's not bad at all.And yes it's a filler but, the short stories here fill in a little bit about the side characters and their perspective on the events that've happened, which I felt was a nice change of pace. There's a little bit of romance, a little peek into the underbelly of the world and a sneak peek into the cliffhanger at the end of the last volume, which I enjoyed. And if you like any of the things mentioned above, you'll like this volume.

Far and Away the Worst So Far
I generally *love* Light Novel short stories. A chance to see events from other perspectives? What's not to like? But most of this book is just word salad fanfiction-y nonsense. The book consists of 4.5 stories from several different characters from novels past. The first and last (and the actually short final story) are decent enough but the middle two, which constitute the bulk of the book, are actual garbage starring characters you hate full of plot points that don't matter.1. The first story is about Gard Mjolmille as he recounts his efforts to take over the world's criminal underground AND the world of legitimate business. Okayish story as it ties back into the country of Tempest even if most of the characters are almost one-offs.2. This story is about Velgrynds adventures in a weird poorly written alternate history Japan. This story is basically word salad making up strange fantasy names for *our* worlds different countries and devoting pages to the dumb alternate history that is create here. Has basically zero bearing on the mainline story.3. Starring Caligulio, that's right a fodder character created to demonstrate Diablos' power in an earlier volume and basically do nothing else, as he narrates his history and his new life in the newly reformed empire. Then devolves into what I can only describe as a bad fanfiction as he wins back the love of his life. You already probably hated every character in this story so now you can spend even more time with them. Again has almost zero bearing on the story.4. Raine (one of Guy's primal demoon maids) gives some backstory on the history of the world, the demon lords and their relationships with one another, the origins of the world's different races, and narrates her pov of a few scenes from novels past. It also leads into an event that happened off screen in Vol 16 and results in what we saw on the final page of that same volume. This event will likely feature heavily in Vol 18. Easily the best story in the volume.4.5. A not purpose-written story reprinted here starring Vester. A fun little super short story with characters that you probably like as it takes place IN Tempest. The writing in the series has generally been on the decline since like volume 10 or so but has still been a enjoyable fun ride. Most of this volume however is just a waste.
