Twelve South Backpack for iMac and Apple Displays | Hidden Storage Shelf for Hard Drives and Accessories (Matte Black)

Anyone with an iMac or iMac Pro needs one of these. (In my case, two.) What a great way to clear the mess behind your computer. Instead of drives and cables woven around, mine are more organized than they had been. The shelves allow you to basically piggyback a drive on the back of your iMac so it is not taking up desk space. You can also use shorter cables (provided) to be even neater. They also come with pegs so thin drives can stack on their sides, letting you put more than one on the platform. I bought 2 Backpacks. You are able to add them above or below the hole where the power cable goes through. Using the pegs from both sets, I am able to have 3 external SSDs on the top Backpack. The bottom currently holds a larger drive lying flat, which is my Time Machine drive. I think the backpack is a brilliant invention that I didn't know I needed until I saw it. ADDED LATER: Since my original review, a friend told me it read as though I worked for the company or was compensated. No to both. I may have been a bit enthusiastic because it has been a great help to me. I have read some of the negative comments, especially about price, and noticed Amazon has lowered the price since I bought both of mine. I am adding a photo of my configuration. As for it not being sturdy, I have had no problems. I did put the heavier drive in the bottom position and it seems stable. I read on this page or the manufacture's that there is a weight limit of 3 1/2 pounds. My drive weighs much less.

This was easy to install, and holds all of my hard drives and cables out of the way. I like the configurable design because it allows for the installation of two, if necessary.

Works perfectly - everything arrived just as advertised! The one thing I personally didn't think to consider was that my computer wouldn't be as close to the wall as I had originally planned. I'll adjust just fine, but it something to be mindful of!

Looks great, kinda wobbly but it holds up for sure. I used some Velcro to strap it to my iMac Pro for security. It’s holding a 10TB LaCie Pro drive which is heavy.

I like that it holds both of my external memory drives and that it cleared up my sometimes cluttered desk.

I love things like this that do what they say and just work

Un elemento, a mio modo di vedere, indispensabile con un iMac. E' il secondo che prendo in questo modo ho 2 HD, uno per time machine e un altro per un ulteriore backup "a bordo" desktop senza occuparmi scrivania di casa. Per capire ho 7 HD esterni (uno di rete in altra locazione), stampante multifunzione, router adsl, ups ed altri accessori per cui lo spazio deve essere gestito al meglio

Etwas teuer, aber schon eine gute Idee. Bei mir kommt der USB Hub drauf, der bisher nur mit Kabelbindern Halt fand. Auch wenn das Teil nicht zu sehen ist, wäre Silbergrau als Farbvariante schön. Witzig finde ich die Stelle in der Produktbeschreibung: Zitat "( )...die Sie entweder an der Rückseite oder Vorderseite Ihres iMac oder Apple Bildschirms anbringen...( ) Zitat ende. Rückseite ist klar, ich grüble noch an der Lösung für die Vorderseite. Aufgepasst! Die kl. Plasteklammern (4x2) für die Mac Modelle sind einsortiert und per Karte bezeichnet. Leider konnte ich mich nicht drauf verlassen. Besser ist, die Plasteklammern testweise auf den Standfuß das betreffenden Mac zu stecken. Sie dürfen kaum Spiel haben. Metall-und Plasteklammern zusammenstecken und locker in die Langlöcher stecken, anpassen, handfest anziehen und fertig!

Me ha resultado un poco complicado la instalación. Hay varias piezas (adaptadores) y no está fácil saber cual corresponde colocar. Una vez colocado cumple muy bien su función, tiene una amplia superficie para colocar discos externos.

This is my second Twelve South backpack unit. The first unit was on an older iMac that I donated to a family member and the second unit was for a new iMac pro that I recently purchased. Both units were used to conveniently accommodate back up hard drives and worked extremely well. I highly recommend them.

Very robust and comes with lots of options for mounting kit on the shelf and where to mount it on different iMacs. very sturdy and robust.
