12 Litre Potable Expansion Vessel with 3/4" Connection

Pre-set at 3 Bar pressure, which is my average mains water pressure, (you can adjust pressure under a plastic screw cap on top) this vessel has sorted my recent water-hammer problems which were driving me nuts and began unexpectedly without any additions or modifications to my plumbing... The only initial solution to the water-hammer problem was to allow a tap in the house to run very slightly. I even considered connecting up an auto-flush cistern that allowed a reduced but constant water flow to relieve the pressure but this was not really a sensible option long term. I had previously bought and fitted 3 small water-hammer arrestors to try to solve the knocking (internal plunger/spring operated devices) but these had no effect whatsoever on the problem... (£28 a time... 'not happy...) Having fitted this pressure vessel near my mains inlet in the garage, simply a "spur" off the mains, this immediately stopped the water-hammer knocking when taps, solenoids or toilets were turned off/stopped the water flow. The second photo shows two inline isolating valves under the vessel, one allows the unit to be fitted without turning off the mains and the second directly under the vessel stops you getting soaked if you have to remove it! ...more importantly this valve is shown almost closed as this is adequate to allow the passage of water into the vessel to cushion the hydraulic shock or water-hammer effect but importantly it prevents what I can only imagine is a periodic "release of pressure" causing slight knocking that occurred regularly and noticeably when I was trying to get to sleep! (no taps or appliances were running at the time) Initially it probably happened during the day but I didn't notice it. It may be that I also need to adjust the expansion vessel pressure but this partial closure of the valve seems to do the trick. I am sure different plumbing configurations in houses will produce different problems in addition to the mains pressure varying from time to time so there's a bit of trial and error in getting it right. No there isn't a bracket on this version but it isn't difficult to make one rather than pay the extra cost... unless someone else is paying!

This comes in two versions. In one there is a bracket welded to the vessel than 'clips' to a bracket you fix to the wall. The other does not have a bracket on the expansion vessel. This does not have that bracket, the expansion vessel I was replacing had the bracket. I had to buy a separate mounting kit.
