Strong performances; tense and interesting sf space-horror
Spoiler alert. The ending is crafted so that we know exactly as much as the characters know. We feel their troubled state: relieved to be alive, massively traumatised, but also with grave concerns. Are they still themselves? Have they opted to return to their families only to infect their entire species and planet? What are the implications of what has been left behind?Stylistically borrows from a long tradition of space horror, but chooses to treat the alien motivation, symbiosis, and human alteration with more depth than usual. The cinematography and soundscape is designed to mirror the internal state of the characters and does so well. The result is sometimes disorienting, but appropriate. Genuine attempt at science-fiction instead of outright fantasy.Warning: the themes explored weigh heavily at times, especially with respect to family / children. Avoid if this is an overly sensitive subject for you.

People beam across space and have bad time on salvia, PCP and acid
TL;DR Very dark (literally and figuratively), very violent, they mumble a lot, they shout a lot. The ending will most likely leave you without answers, but no particular inclination to spend time working them out.I'm a big fan of psychological thrillers and horror/sci-fi type films, so had high hopes for this. Unfortunately, this is one of those films that is confusing for all the wrong reasons. Take the film Memento, for example. A hugely complex and confusing film while you're watching it, but brilliantly crafted and a plot that leaves you thinking about it for days afterwards. It bears up to scrutiny because, ultimately, *it makes sense* and every time you think, "But wait a minute - what about..." there is a water-tight and coherent explanation. This film is not like that. This film confuses you with various vagueries, from the overly dark sets, to the over the top audio dynamics, to the constant mumbling of the cast. But most of all, it's down to the story just being a bit vague. Lots of questions are raised, but none of them really have anything to tie back to.To be fair, there are some good performances here and the build up in the first half of the film creates a very believable tension. Some will probably enjoy it for the atmosphere and style alone (if it weren't so well-rendered, I'd be giving it 2 stars). However, it just felt like a bit of a shame that, through better editing/storyboarding or development of the more interesting strands of the plot, it wasn't made into the kind of film that stays with you and makes you think about it, because I think it probably could have been.

The disappointing lovechild of Event Horizon and The Thing
Infini starts well, albeit with the tired formula of a search and rescue team, but the lack of any original plot soon rears its head. Once our heroes are on the base the movie descends into a mish-mash of tropes from other SF Horror films without any meaningful dialogue or interaction to provide a new perspective. In fact, the dialogue is so lacking that there's probably 20 or 30 minutes that's little more than incoherent shouting, as though the Director had simply asked the actors to "go mad" and then left the camera running. The lack of decent dialogue and the weak plot are a pity because visually the movie is a cut above most lesser-known SF offerings. The sets are impressive and the camerawork and lighting decent, which is good news if you have to virtually mute the sound to get away from the shouting nonsense. It's the lovechild of Event Horizon and The Thing, but it's a child that's grown up with none of the better qualities of either movie.

Better Than Expected!
This turned out better than I expected it to be. It reminded me of Dead Space in a way, with the industrial feeling space facility and the biological contagion the characters contend with.Acting was also a highlight, they really sold the frenetic, fracted mental state of someone fighting to keep some shred of control over the thing infesting their bodies.I was also pleasantly surprised by the ending. You tend to expect a certain kind of ending with films like this, but it went somewhere else and I appreciate it for that.

Tense sci-fi retrieval mission
What you will see is a well executed sci-fi in space about the retrieval of a young man aboard a space station following a viral out break that ends in a blood bath. It borrows from many of the genre's greats such as aliens but it does it well. Sets are good and whilst it is not AA lister casting you are treated to a cast (apart from one guy) who are convincing enough to have you feel on edge and wanting to claw your own skin when you see them get infected. More tender moments or back story for the main character would not have gone a miss and maybe a bit more character establishing for the secondary characters as well. You won't see much new here and you won't find an deep story. However you will experience a tense, suspenseful film and be gripped until its interesting conclusion.

Dark Violent Far-fetched and Unconvincing
This did not engage me nor take me along at all. Lacked common sense or obvious precautions so expert teams lack conviction as expert in anything. At every step was thinking that's dumb why didn't they do this instead. Combat teams teleport into unknown danger zone without space suits in case of vacuum or without masks against contagion. Bought home and run riot at base. Where was physical air tight quarantine and monitoring for a period in secure air tight areas. Search and rescue teleport now with space suits (huh why didn't the others?). They scan the air but scanners will only find contaminants they are designed for not unknown alien substances. They take off their suits and masks for no good reason. A survivor tells them there is something spread by contact with blood. So they leave their suits and masks off leaving themselves vulnerable. The area scanned clear of persons but assailants come out of nowhere with no explanation. Team doesn't barricade or lock doors or set up any kind of watch against them. No explanation as to why they simply didn't teleport a nuke aboard and vaporise the danger. Watched it through doggedly hoping it would get better. It didn't.

Mal wieder was Unkonventionelles
