These are the kind of scissors you hide away and make sure only you know where they're at. They are beautifully made, fantastic quality and you feel that they should be reserved to only cut silk.Every part of the scissors is gorgeous from the comfortable grip to the smooth opening and closing.And it came in a matte black finish.I rarely give five stars to items I've been given to review but these deserve it. It's truly Japanese quality and made in Japan. It's all metal construction extends to the handles, other than the comfortable plastic for the finger holes. These handles will not break as some of the cheaper ones do. They came with a lifetime warranty and a thick ziplock bag for storage. This is a one and done purchase.

These are very huge and very sharp, good for cutting fabric and possibly blue jeans. These scissors were cut through mostly anything. Just be careful. But they are pretty heavy duty and sturdy, and will last a long time.

Although advertised as "right-handed" scissors, which they are clearly designed to be, the soft coating on the handles feel comfortable in my left hand as shown in the accompanying photo. Confession: I'm a lefty.These scissors slice through fabric with silky smoothness without a trace of hesitation or unevenness. With the promise of a "lifetime warranty" from a company that has been around for more than twenty years, I don't know what more I could expect from sewing scissors than these deliver in spades.If you are seeking sewing scissors that are comfortable in hand and precise, I believe that you'll find that these will meet your expectations.

These aren't your average, mass-produced scissors that you can buy at the local box store. Rather, they are so solidly made that it's clear they are intended for a serious quilter, tailor, or seamstress. They cut fabric so smoothly, and they glide easily, resulting in a very straight and smooth cut. They are a bit heavier in the hand, due to their solid construction, so smaller hands might benefit from ordering the slightly smaller 10" version. These would be a perfect gift for your local tailor or seamstress, or even for yourself. Highly recommended.

Okay, so now I know why fashion designers will chop your head off if you touch their scissors. One, because they're no ordinary scissors. They are an essential tool to create your masterpiece. Two, because with these...they probably can literally chop your head off! Tonma has made an excellent scissors here. Sharp, precise, comfortable, makes cutting a breeze. If you want to cut fabric with precision, you need a good fabric scissors, just like a hairdresser needs a good hair scissors. The Japanese know how to make a sharp edge. I got the 11" and it's huge as you see from my photos. Man hands might work better with them, but I am able to use without a problem. They cut through cotton jersey so easily, and that's a material that can be be a royal pain without a good scissors. I can highly recommend to clothing makers, tailors, designers and dedicated hobbyists who work with fabric. You cannot go wrong with these.Note - these are not left-handed, I just am not capable of taking a photo without using my dominant right hand. :)

These scissors are seriously sharp and make a super straight cut. The heft in my hand combined with the design of the handle also helped me stay exactly where I needed them. Using them, I realized what a huge difference good quality scissors make when it comes to precision cutting. I thought I’d had good ones before, but now I know how wrong I was. They feel precision aligned, with no wobble. So now, I’m almost afraid to use them lest they lose this perfection. But the lifetime service and their assurance of lasting sharpness helps; it’d be a shame not to use these incredible fabric scissors. I mean just Wow. They are so awesome, I feel like I’d be happy as could be just cutting out patterns all day.

Here's a picture of these scissors alongside my normal (and fairly cheap) fabric scissors. They are very large. For me, they feel great when doing long straight lines, but cutting out a pattern can be a bit tricky with the large size. Also, they have a bit of weight to them, making them harder for long projects. However, they are quite sharp and cut the fabric much easier than my normal scissors.

These were much bigger than expected, yet, they are cut very well and smooth - far more than expected. They open and close very easily. They are a little on the heavy side, but they are made of a strong steel, that are noted in the description to be made in Japan. The handles are a little bulky, but you get a good grip on them. As stated, they are quite sharp and will cut through most any materials with ease. I think for the quality and durability, you are getting your moneys worth.
