Vinyl Guru® Small 3mm, Medium 7mm or Large 10mm Replacement Quartz Clock non ticking movement motor mechanism (Short 3mm Spindle Shaft for clock faces up to 3mm thickness)

I brought this one to replace one I brought 9 months ago which started to go wrong. Chris from Vinyl Guru said "We have sold tens of thousands of these and have only had a very small number faulty. Usually if they develop a fault it is in the first day or so of use. I have some myself and with family members and friends that are still gping strong after a few years. However, like any mass produced item faults can develop at any time.ThanksChris"So I would guess they usually last longer.

The mechanism is better than the one originally in the clock as there is no annoying ticking sound. The item arrived quickly and came with a battery. There is a slight whirring sound but I can only here this if there is total silence and I am listening out for it. Good purchase as I thought I would have to take down the clock as the ticking was really getting on my nerves.

The movement fits in my clock and appears to keep time. So, positives there.I bought this movement as I am very sensitive to the noise of a ticking clock. This was meant to be a silent sweeping movement and, to me, it is still hideously loud (albeit much quieter than its predecessor). The noise is not a 'tick' as it has a sweeping movement. It is more of an incessant mechanical drone.I appreciate I am exceptionally sensitive to these sounds and my partner can't even hear it. However, I have other clocks in the house with a similar sweeping movement which are beautifully quiet and the whole clock was cheaper than this movement alone!For the price, this is not as good as expectations.

The item concerned is now fitted and working in the clock.There should be a little more emphasis on the sizes of the TWO diameteres which really are the main points of the clock along with the spigot length.The unit at the moment is keeping perfect time.GREAT.Thanks again Amazon for your assistance.

I purchased this to replace the clapped out movement from an old nursery clock. the instructions were very clear and I fitted it in a couple of minutes, although I have never done anything like this before. I had hoped to reuse my old clock hands, but these did not fit. I stress that this was not the fault of the supplier. I took a chance hoping that the old clock hands could be reused, but my clock is 22 years old and were of a different make. However, when I purchased the matching hands, the whole thing worked perfectly. Best of all, the mechanism really is perfectly silent. I would thoroughly recommend.

Order placed: 14 May 2014 - Stopped working April 30th 2015 - before anyone asks have tried new batteries with no luck - ran ok for about 11 months there was a whirring sound that could be heard if the room was fully quiet. The last 7 to 10 days it was loosing time, that's why I thought it was the battery.Gave it 2 stars for the roughly 11 months it worked, it was relatively quiet but for £10 - plus delivery (unless you spend over £20) I'd expect 2 to 5 years for a clock movement, preferably longer as many £10 clocks do.If anyone has any suggestions on others that are worth a shot, love to hear!

Although this item overcomes the problem of the annoying tick tock sound, you should be aware it does omit sound to a whiring effect which is quite loud. Not sure which is worse.
