Great smart lock. Very easy to install.Great option to get the door open and the best thing is that it’s got an override key if all else fails.

Brilliant door lock, so easy and convenient to use. Very simple to fit, it took me less than 10 mins in uPVC door, I didn't need to drill any holes as everything lined up with existing hole. Hardest bit was loosing excess cable in battery compartment.

I picked this handle because it looked smart and the reviews were pretty good. I bought it to install on an older, 3 lock, multi-lever, upvc patio door.I do quite a lot of diy and would have found this job relatively simple with more comprehensive instruction or a good video of an installation.The first job I had was to change the direction of the handle. A lot of the adverts for this handle don’t even mention that this is a possibility so it took a fair amount of research to check whether this was even possible before I went ahead and bought the handle. The instructions were also not helpful as they said you needed a screwdriver to change the handle direction when in fact you needed an allen key. This is not easy to work out because the Allen key point is not within easy sight as it’s hidden inside the handle. Once I’d figured it out, changing the direction of the handle was easy.Installation of the handle would have been relatively simple if it wasn’t for my inexperience in dealing with upvc door innards. I needed to remove the metal strip running down the inner length of the door and over the lock to remove the old barrel. I didn’t know that the star shaped screws on the strip were actually holding the 3 locks to the strip and that I only needed to unscrew the Philips screws to remove the strip. Consequently the locks all fell off the strip as I removed it. This ended up adding heaps of time as I had to reassemble the inner strip and synchronise all the locks and levers before I could reinstall it and add the handle. Hopefully, writing about it on this review will help someone else avoid this problem.The handle itself was a little confusing to install because the wire that goes through the door is in an awkward place that makes it look like it will be obstructed. Drilling a larger hole and feeding the cables up and around obstacles is the solution and the cable extension supplied with the kit was great for this.Once the handle was installed I found that only one side of the handle was functioning properly (it’s a good idea to keep the key on you whilst testing function). I called Simple for advice. They were quick to answer the phone and gave good advice, so I can’t fault them on customer service. The problem was to do with an inner arrow component facing the wrong way after changing the direction of the handle. The instructions did say to change the direction of this arrow, which I thought I’d done but it obviously wasn’t quite right. Anyway the handle functioned fine after I changed this.The reason I gave the handle 4 stars rather than 5 was because the fingerprint recognition isn’t as dependable as I would like. More miss than hit most of the time. It doesn’t matter too much for the function I have in mind as I’ve been able to issue myself with a permanent passcode which always works well, and I will be issuing time limited passcodes for visitors. The app is great for this and easy to use.Other downsides are that the handle is much bigger than the other patio door handle which makes the two of them together look quite mismatched. I have looked for larger handles to match but have been unable to find any.Also, my doors are grey on the outside and white on the inside. The existing handles are chrome on the outside and white on the inside, which again makes the handles mismatched as the simple smart one I bought is chrome on both sides. It would be helpful to have more colour options so you can actually match your door/secondary handles. Either that or the option of buying regular matching handles.Finally, I think the instructions could be a lot more informative to make installation easier for DIYers, by giving information that will enable them to avoid pitfalls like the ones I faced.The instructions were memorable (you’ll see for yourself if you buy the product) but for poetic license more than for the helpful, informative, straightforward type of communication that you need for a practical job like this.All in all, a great handle though. Good job!

Great piece of kit and very easy to install, even for a complete amateur. Great value for money and manufacturer support was exemplary.

I really wanted to like this product and to be honest the reason it’s not one star is that is has great features.Sadly this is all let down by how difficult it is to install. For reference I have previously used Yale connexis smart lock on my past 3 different front doors and it always was a simple use the current lock and holes and installed within minutes. The Simpled lock required you to drill holes for the cable, and make holes bigger for the internal of the handle. Drilling new holes puts the lock mechanism at risk and widening holes is very difficult. I am not confident in this lasting but we will wait and see.The positive is that after making all the extra holes I can now use thumbprint to access.
