McDavid Light Ankle Brace with Figure-8 Strap

Fantastic braces that give you great support and confidence, while retaining the flexibility to jump and turn in agile sports. I wear them playing a basketball-type sport for up to 2hrs at a time several times per week and find them quite comfortable given the strong support. After a few sprains I wear them for prevention and have not had a problem since. Highly recommend. Well worth the money.

As a rugby player in my youth, this would have been a valuable item for the ankle I broke three times in a long playing career. It seeks to,replicate the stirrup strapping good tape men use to help rehabilitate injured sportsmen. It achieves this quite well, but needs a little practice to get it right.My past injuries, now 30 years on have resulted in a permanent weak ankle. The McDavid serves to deliver a level of support, but relies on some compression as well as the strapping support. My feelings are that it would give better support if it extended further up,ones leg. I felt it just a little low on the calves to give real long lasting support.It helps, it's not uncomfortable to wear and is well made, quality structure and worth it's money.I also have air filled jell cushion supports that fit inside two solid plastic templates that fit on each side of my ankle. These supports, although twice the price, deliver better long term support. One fears that surgery is probably now a more realistic solution to quite a debilitating condition

I bought this support as I have a long term problem with "turning" my left ankle while hill-running. The ankle has been manageable for a few years but in November I rolled it badly twice in quick succession and did some damage to ligaments. After 2 months off running I was just getting my confidence back when I again turned my ankle twice on successive runs, doing further damage. Fearing that this may spell the end of my ability to run on rough ground I did some research and this support seemed to feature very well in reviews.My first impressions are excellent. Wearing the support straight out of the box last night, I ran a 6 mile hilly route on a combination of rough, muddy single track and rough landrover track, in the dark. The ankle felt stable and showed no signs of wanting to "turn". The support allowed sufficient movement to run completely normally, with good up-down movement of the foot. The support was very comfortable despite being done up quite tight and I have no rubs or bruising. By the end of the run I was hardly aware that I was wearing it, and it should "break in" to some extent and become more comfortable with wear. It is very easy to put on/take off.I would highly recommend this product.

I had tried physiotherapy, rest, two other different braces, medication, supplements ... you name it. After 8 months of all that I was starting to freak out that I might need surgery( which is never optimal) for my ankle tendinitis. This strap has been magic. After a couple of months wearing it daily I am back to cautiosly playing basketball ( but boy it's hard to get back in shape when you are 40 years old:), before trying this brace I couldn't even walk for more than a couple of minutes without sharp pain in my foot.I know it looks bulky, but it is very comfortable. My advice - don't tighten the laces too much. I did that in the beginning out of overabundance of caution - I wanted my ankle to be supported. In fact - try wearing it with the laces tied, but as loose as possible. The two velcro straps on the sides are plenty support.Big thanks to the designers and the producers of this strap. I really can't thank you enough. I am trying not to jinx myself, but this brace has been a lifesaverEdit 3 years on. Don't use long term !!!!! The brace works fine for ankle issues. I did develop patellar tendon issues ( Jumpers knee- very annoying ) Apparently limited flexibility in your ankle ( I think wearing this brace qualifies) increases your chance of getting knee problems 14 times ( or something). I did run with it and I am over 40 so it could be me just getting old.

This ankle brace really works! It gives excellent support & is very comfortable. As previous reviewers have said it takes some time to put the shoelace in & strap it up so it fits nicely. It took me 15-20 minutes to setup then after that about 5 mins each time you want to put it on. It's not like slipping on a sock so take your time as it's not something you want to put on if your in a hurry, like, first thing in the morning etc. Great product & does the job.

I've run forty miles or so cross-country wearing this in the last three weeks or so; so it's had a bit of a try out. The bottom line is that it protects my ankle pretty well and I'm running with more confidence and freedom than I did without it. That being said, there are a couple of problems, which is why I've only given it four stars. The cuff around my lower calf itches and scratches a little unless I run wearing tights - which is fine in winter. The adjustment of the cross over bands isn't altogether easy. If you don't get them just right, they start to hurt the underside of your foot after five miles or so. I've not found the secret to this yet; sometimes it is fine, sometimes, I have to stop and adjust everything. It does take a while to put the thing on and take it off again, but I guess that's normal.However, it does what I need it to do, so overall, I'm happy with it.

After trying various ankle support systems and deciding not to go with “as worn by Andy Murray” type due to couple of poor reviews regarding quality, I went for this one. Fantastic support, almost instant relief, great quality and after 3 weeks of constant hard use still looks brand new. It did take almost 3 weeks to come from the USA but it was worth it. One issue with sizing and a slight design flaw, in my opinion. I ordered the recommended size for my shoe size which was a medium, however the elastic that goes across the top of the foot is very very tight. I see no real reason for this as the laces pull everything together anyway and a loser bit of elastic would do. I manage to cut the elastic and add a bit more rather than send for a larger size… I was in a lot of pain. 100% a 5 star product

Got these for my teen athlete after a sprained ankle, very supportive and help her get back into her basketball routine without being in pain or scared to get hurt again. A bit pricey, as they are sold individually, but EXCELLENT find.

The brace provides perfect support and to top it off it is comfortable.

Stabil am Fuss!Stützt aber stört nicht!Hatten schon bekanntere und teurere...diese kann absolut mit den anderen mithalten!Würde ich mir wieder kaufen!
