A fantastic piece of equipment .
What a great bit of kit that makes using a chainsaw to saw my logs a lot safer. I did the usual mistake of assembling it wrong in my workshop and had to undo the butterfly nuts and swing the upright around to face the teeth the right way . I bet most people fall for that but it is easily rectified ! I think the teeth are strong enough and the whole assembly is very strong and stable . I will use it actually inside my trailer in future so that the logs fall inside and it will save a lot of handling ( a tip shown by one of the reviewers ) . To sum up I should have bought one of these sooner , they are good value for money , easy to use and take a good size length of timber and speeded up my work rate !

Well built
Excellent piece of kit, sturdy and does a great job. Wish I’d bought one sooner, makes logging a pleasure.

Keep it Level
Great piece of kit. The bracing is a bit flimsy but does the job and it is quite narrow so those bigger heavier cords of wood can make it a little wobbly, not great when you have a chainsaw against it. as with all of these saw dogs that last log will not be the same length as all the others you cut because the cord has to go through the gripper a reasonable way to allow the teeth to bite down, so if you are a little OCD it'll niggle at you. Other than that would recommend it for light domestic use, especially in saving the fingers of a loved one who no longer has to hold that last bit you cut!

Make sure you set it up correctly
I didn't like this the first time I used it, it wasn't stable and didn't grip the logs. After a bit of frustration I took more time to properly put the frame on the ground with the spikes well into the ground and then pushed down hard on the log to grip it on the bottom teeth, not just the top ones.Makes all the difference, grips really well and allows for pretty long logs to be cut. I got through loads! It really does make the job so much easier and safer.

Great tool
A little low for a tall man. Otherwise a cracking tool

Quick in Use - Well Made
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. It holds your bit of wood firmly in place whilst you use your chosen method of cutting it. And, as long as you put the wood in so that it 'hangs' correctly - which is more than 2/3 of the log on the cutting side - then it is really very secure. In terms of build it is quite substantial and will last a good while even if abused I suspect. It's also fairly heavy so don't ask your 5' wife to drag it around unless you want a good yelling at later on...Just one thing that you really do have to be careful of is that this does rely on the weight of the wood jamming itself up against the spikes and you have to make sure that when you've finished the cut that weight remains biased towards the cut end otherwise the log will free up. Not good if you have a moving chainsaw in your hand. In some ways this is safer than a traditional saw horse as the wood is gripped tightly but in others less so if you don't watch out.Overall if used sensibly this is a very good, safe and quick way of holding a bit of wood whilst you cut it. But, like all tools you need to use a bit of sense.

In my opinion its ability to secure circular irregular shapes of wood is the best at the time of writing
This is my third season using it, It works. In my opinion its ability to secure circular irregular shapes of wood is the best at the time of writing. My issue is that all these holders are demonstrated with nice straight pieces of wood. In reality I have never had such lengths of wood, they are irregular in length and shape which can result in the saw horse being unbalanced. As a result of using heavy bent unbalanced lengths of wood I have also bent a tooth. Whilst I regret doing so, I do understand why it has happened, I simply need to make sure the wood is better balanced in the horse. Also I cannot cut wood less than 2 inch in diameter which is a disappointment.Following years of mastering cutting wood on the floor it did take some practicing cutting unbalanced wood safely suspended by the saw horse.Otherwise I enjoy using it and my workrate is a lot faster but I do feel there is room for improvement in the product design.
