Fantastic purchase
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Very happy with this dog door flap. I have a medium sized black Labrador and bought the medium size door first thinking it would be big enough for him. Going by the size chart, it would have been. However, I decided to buy the large size after and sent the medium back again as I felt the large one would give my slightly anxious dog more space to go through. And what a good idea that was.He absolutely loves it and only took around 5 min (with treats of course) to figure it out. My partner helped me to take the door off the hinges and drew the frame on the door (easy when going by the pictures and instructions) I have sawn the hole in myself to try it out and this too was very very easy. He drilled in the holes (easy again) and that was basically it. All we had to do then was to put the door flap in and screw it tight. It seems to keep the draft out well - for now anyway. We have sealed the outside around the flap and along the door just in case and to definitely keep all rain out. It looks very tidy and is of a good strong quality. I’m so glad I have bought this. Would definitely recommend

Read this before you install!
This is not a bad dog flap, but it could be so much better!1) They provide 4 machine fixing screws and nuts. Sadly the screws are flat-headed, not cross-headed. You will find that it makes quite a difference, particularly if you are trying to fit it on your own. The screws need to be cut to length, so you will need a vice and a hacksaw and a file. Make sure the screw goes into the nut EASILY before you assemble.2) The nuts are not captive (held in place). This means they WILL fall out unless your door is horizontal. My door is a normal vertical door. I think you understand!3) If your door is quite thick (mine is about 2") then, when you drill the holes for the screws, you will probably find the screws will NOT line up exactly with the nut on the other side. This will cause you some stress and result in wine being consumed. Again, if your door is horizontal it is easier to drill a hole at a perfect right angle. See 2) above.4) This seems a minor quibble after all the above, but the door closing flap is a bit of a faff, especially if you have consumed wine following numbers 1-3 above. As it is a warm spring now, I (or my dog) haven't been able to test the flap's wind-proofness. I do suspect it won't be brilliant. But hey ho, I am not going to go through all that again anytime soon.

Excellent flap
After studying reviews for various flaps I opted for this one in a size medium for my 25lb Tibetan Terrier. My partner fitted it and it took a couple of hours but apart from initially taping the frame to the door upside down - doh - it was quite straight forward. As pictured the screws are too long and need to be cut down to size but our TT was using the flap confidentally within 24 hours and loves her freedom. We 'lock' it at night so she cannot go out and bark and she can easily tell when it's blocked.

Nice looking product but the insurance company cancelled my insurance
Once this is up and running it's a smart looking product. You will need copious amounts of gravy bones to entice your dogs through it. The puppy found it easy, the 11 year old took some convincing. However. Fixing it into the door takes two people. Lots of cups of tea and one of those people has to have the patience of a saint. It does fit well but the fitting was tricky. My door is a back door pvc double glazed. Half is glass and the other half composite. 26mm. You will need a jig saw to cut out the hole. The end did justify the problemsBe aware that when I told my insurance company I had a dog door they cancelled my insurance immediately. I have had to get a quote from a specialist company.

Great flap, rubbish dog
The dog door itself is excellent. It is well made, of a tough, non-brittle plastic, and the door flap does not rattle. Downside is that my dog, a Cavachon, refuses to head-butt it to open it. I even removed the magnet, as that was quite powerful, and holds the flap firmly. She is obviously 'too posh to push', and expects the flap to be held open for her!Any bright ideas, anyone? We have tried bundling her through with copious treats, but left to her own devices, when outside, she will stand by the flap and woof until the footman (me...) lets her in.So, the product is excellent, the dog is not... If you have the sort of hound that will quite happily run head-first into things to see if they move, then you should be on a winner. I'm not.

Brilliant
This is brilliant.I had debated between this one and a petsafe one and this one had better reviews and had metal screws vs plastic ones to i took a huge risk. I paid £1200 for a new back door to be fitted soley for the purpose of having a dog flap in it. Mad? yes i know. However, my dog has incontinence and would wake me up about 10 times a night to go to the toilet, and my health was suffering as a result. I got a reputable door company to fit the door, and their fabricator fitted this for me for £50 before the door was installed. It looks amazing. Has saved my sanity and i am now getting 8 hours of sleep a day, something that i had not had for over 5 years.I thought training my dog to use it would be really difficult, but she took to it straight away and now spends most of her time in the garden. I wake up sometimes in the night to use the toilet and she is snoring away on the grass outside.Best thing ive done for ages and ages.Picture attached.

Bought for long legged Jack Russel. Fits him great
Bought this for a long leg jack Russel who is on the large size for a jack Russel and it fits him fine. He can shoot in and out of it as he pleases. He use to scratch the door to let us know he wanted to go out the back for a toilet and that's the reason we got this so he can let himself out. It all fitted well to the door bit did take some time to get it all right and fitted wellIt's well made and strong. I live in valley where its raining all the time and very windy and there's no leaks or drafts and the magnet is strong enough to hold back the windOn the inside it comes with a panel to attach at night and it's very soild and fits securely and is easy to put on and off
