The Ultimate Book of Baby Knits: Debbie Bliss’s Favourite 50 Patterns for Babies and Toddlers

I like the knits but every single wool is a Debbie Bliss wool and I've had difficulty with some of the patterns finding a cheaper equivalent. I started out as a beginner knitter and liked the look of this book because of the explanation of some knitting styles. I did end up having to youtube any stitches other than a regular knit or purl because the book wasn't clear enough. In fairness, it is quite difficult to draw pictures of how to do stitches!Having tried many different patterns from this book, I can say that I think I've progressed on to being an intermediate knitter which I'm very proud of. A lot of these patterns look scary and difficult, but if you take them line by line (with occasional help from the internet!) I think any knitter can learn to handle these. Best of luck!

I don’t knit but my mother in law does sobought a book so Icould suggest some nice patterns. All the things she knitted from this were amazing and beautiful. I do think they were quite tiring for her wrists though after years of typing as a secretary. But if you don’t have this issue and love to knit I would highly recommend.

There are better patterns from other yarn brands, who do not charge for them.I was curious about Debbie Bliss books as I have read so many good reviews about it. The patterns are simple, and the book is promoting Debbie Bliss yarn brand, i did not like that. If one decides to charge for the patterns the yarn suggested in the pattern should be generic.There are many other yarn brands who do not charge for their patterns which are often more interesting then the ones in this book.

I first had this book from the library and liked it so much I decided to buy my own copy. It includes a good selection of patterns, from large items such as blankets down to small items such as bootees, which is good value if you had to buy the patterns separately. Even though all the wool recommended is by Debbie Bliss, it is not too difficult to substitute a different brand. However her wool is of such good quality and if you are spending hours making a large item I think it is worth paying that little bit extra for the final result. If I had any criticism of the book it would be that some of the items are not shown completely in the photographs. There are lots of photos of lovely babies to illustrate the items but it would be helpful if the bigger items could be shown in their entirety to assist with the pattern. (e.g. The sampler blanket.) Even so I am happy to recommend it.

I got this book out of the library after a quick flick through it. Within half an hour of getting home I had ordered it on Amazon! The designs definitely have a touch of class about them. The pictures are beautiful and text layout is very user friendly. I had just completed one jumper and one matinee coat for my five month granddaughter. So to match, I knitted the 'picot' bootees page 264 ( beautiful and so easy) and the sandals on page 262 ( fabulous... but challenging). 12th row of pattern: Next row [ P next st tog with corresponding st 7 rows below] to end.....WHAT!?Despite being a knitter on and off since I was 18, now 62 I had never come across this before. I own up to it taking me 3 hours to crack it and complete the first sandal but it was so worth it! The finished result could easily sell in a baby boutique for £35/£40.If you are a beginner don't be put off please. Have a good look through this book. I dare you not to want it!

Unless you use Debbie Bliss yarn this book is quiet restricted. If you spend some time convert the yarn size which might involve changing needle sizes then the projects are still possible. There are however some nice projects in it which my mother really enjoyed making.

Well worth every penny. Got this book from the library and realised there were so many great patterns , I had to buy my own copy. Earlier than expected delivery. Excellent condition.

A good purchase if you don't have any other Debbie Bliss baby books - this is a collection gathered from her other books.Nice modern patterns, but a little "samey" as you go through the book. A few patterns for non clothing items such as blankets, bottees which may not be as useful.Items can be expensive to knit if you use Debbis Bliss yarn - which is lovely to knit with.
